hi..I am wait listed for the USNA...GPA 4.2 weighted classes, Varsity Runner, loads of extra cir. activities....So hopeful. Do you think I have a chance?

It all depends on how many people who were accepted turn down their appointments. If very few do, it won't matter how great your package is. If a lot do, your chances improve.

Both my friend and I were wait listed also. We do a lot of extra curricular activities, are in the IB program, excel in academics, compete in sports, etc..Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the encouragement..What state are you from...I am female and from NJ. Good Luck to you too..

I got waitlisted in NJ as well. This is my second year applying, and hopeful as well. Best of luck to you!

I was accepted to Boston College, Villanova, George Washington Univ, and Univ. of Maryland College Park (Honors Program) NROTC (cross town affiliate with George Washington)...BUT only want USNA...So I guess our wait continues. Good Luck to you

They told you that were "wait listed", or, are you assuming that because you have not received a rejection letter yet?

I received my TWE....with my wait list instructions included. I had to respond via an email that I wished to be kept on the "wait list"....And I do!

My DS was also waitlisted. Found out today, letter was mailed a week ago and have not received it yet. DS emailed AC and was given a telephone number to the Nominations and Appointments office. That is how he found out. They said that about 200 have been waitlisted. Now to decide if he wants to remain on the waitlist.
Decisions, Decisions....

BTW we are in Kentucky

oh my...200 wait listed...I had no idea. That is a long shot for sure..But I am remaining hopeful, a tad more down now that I know this, but, always hopeful. It's all I want, and I will continue to pursue it. Now I too need to make my decisions. Good Luck

Why would you decide to remove yourself from the waitlist? What disadvantage could possibly come from remaining on the list? At a later date, if you get offered an appointment and you have made other plans, just reject the appointment at that time.

Don't burn bridges unnecessarily.

Although there are 200 on the waitlist, for all you know, you are the first person they are going to call should they get an appointment rejection.

Don't forget, some people reject their Naval Academy appointment because they've decided to go to one of the other service academies. Don't be of the mindset, "Why would anybody in their right mind turn down an appointment to the Naval Academy? It'll never happen." It does happen!

Having said this - I would get very serious about your Plan B.

Memphis:

You are entirely correct. But it is afterall his choice to remain on the waitlist. His father and I have told him that it in no way will hinder PLan B, so why not just remain on the waitlist. So this is the choice that he made. The Naval Academy is his FIRST choice.

My son has also heard nothing yet from USNA. When he called on Monday and
spoke to the Regional Director he was told they "sent something out" last week and he should get it sometime this week. We live fairly close to Annapolis and normal mail transit time is 1 or 2 days at most. Not sure what to think but if nothing is in the mail tomorrow I guess he calls admissions again?

Roway: Definitely call your Regional Director again if something doesn't come in the mail today. If you are "wait listed", you must reply with via email that you wish to remain on the list. The Admissions/Nominations Director will reply with a confirmatory email. Best of Luck

I recently found out that I've been Waitlisted, but I've yet to receive a letter. I know there is an e-mail that I supposed to send to inform the Academy of my decision to remain on the Waitlist; however, I do not know the e-mail address. Can someone please tell me the e-mail address? Thank you.

Use the address for your Regional; eg, Region 1@usna.edu. I also would recommend you confirm this action by calling your Regional Director via phone on Monday.

Are you telling me that when a candidate is waitlisted that they need to e-mail somebody to remain on the waitlist -and- the letter informing the candidate that they've been waitlisted does not include a phone number or e-mail address for them to use to inform the academy of their preference?

Unless I'm confused, I believe this thread has crossed USNA wait list with NAPS wait list.

NAPS sent letter addressing confirmation to continue on the wait list.

Yes, When I called to find out the status of my son's application I was told that he would indeed need to contact them to remain on the waitlist. This is the waitlist for direct entry to the accademy, not for NAPS. We have yet to receive the letter stating that he is on the waitlist. They actually asked him to call back and when he did, they gave him an e-mail address so that he could confirm his wishes to remain on the waitlist. He wrote the email address down wrong, because his email was returned undeliverable, that is why he was asking for it on here. If only we had received the letter then all of this confusion would not be taking place right now. He will call on Monday to confirm that they received his email.
