I am looking for more information about the waitlist and transfer process for NROTC. So far I have found out the general details of the system but would like to be able to find out more specifics. I originally had a 4-year NROTC Scholarship to UC Berkeley but did not get into Berkeley. The only other schools I have acceptance to with NROTC programs are CU Boulder and the University of Arizona. From what I have heard, UofA is completely filled but I am currently on their waitlist. Bould seems to be my best option since I got on their waitlist in January. I have put in for a transfer to Boulder and hope everything with work out. Any updated information about either school's NROTC program would be greatly appreciated or anyone attending these units.

I am also waiting on transfer requests.

If you requested a change early (basically anytime before now), you were automatically put on a waitlist. Even if the unit is not full. They don't "process" the waitlist until after all the boards are done, all the selected candidates are placed (Also, service academy applicants recieve appointments around now). I assume that all the boards are complete now, because a few people have posted that they recieved letters saying they did not get the scholarships. They should begin going through the wait-lists now.

However, they will only notify you that a space is open in a unit you requested to transfer into; they will not tell you it is full. This may be different in your case if you told them that you were not accepted into your original unit.

I posted a thread to confirm this, but no real answers yet. I was hoping P-Flying17 could shed some light, but no luck.

Please post back if you get any update on transfers.

Yeah I have basically heard the same information. I wait listed to my secondary schools early and once I found out I got denied by the school where my assigned unit was, I immediately requested a transfer and from what I've heard, this is before some people have even found out if they received a scholarship or not so I think I should be good. But about transfer timing, I have heard that around mid-late may is when they will start working the wait lists. This is because they will know where people have committed and can begin to manage the units and find room for transfers. Hopefully this helps but from the sound of it the only guaranteed time that units will be finalized is before classes in the fall start hahah. Hope this helps and reassures your original info. Thanks for the reply

Just received reliable confirmation that they have begun filtering through wait-lists. I haven't heard anything on my request, but they have sent some notifications.

I just got my scholarship transferred today. Looks like the process has begun. Thanks for your information and help. Good luck!

Transfer Request Approved!!!

For those of you still waiting for transfers -here's our story. My son put in for the transfer about a month ago, received an email Monday that he waitlisted for Ohio State University NROTC MO.

Today he received an email stating that a spot opened up and his transfer was approved. So- our waiting is over!!!! If anyone out there is waiting for an NROTC-MO at University of Michigan, there is hope- we just gave that spot up a few hours ago so you might be hearing something soon!!!

NROTC Marine Corps Scholarship + Academic Merit Scholarships from OSU= FREEEEEEEEEE COLLEGE!!!!! Everything is covered!!!!
And he gets to fufill his dream of becoming an officer in the USMC!!!

Thanks for the information....Its good to know things are happening(good for some , not so good for others) but things are happening. My son is waiting for NROTC and is praying it is for OSU...he has a three year AROTC USF but has requested a transfer to Ohio State University(waiting) but I would love a 4 year to OSU first or a 4 year to USF(of course)....would not need for him to struggle or me the first year.:)

Been working late every night to make as many offers before the May 1 deadline. Not everyone will get what they want, but hopefully will make at least some people happy and breath a sigh of relief.

We want what we want:)...But Im sure most will be happy to get what we get...and those who do not get accepted(if that is us), Im proud to say he worked hard to have a chance. Thanks P'Flying 17 for all the work you have put in it.......and now we continue to wait:)

I second the post mentioning P-Flying17. DS got his e-mail today announcing his transfer for the MO-ROTC to a school he was waitlisted for. P-Flying17 made his day with that e-mail. We truly appreciate all that you are doing....THANK YOU!!!!!
