As hornet said, you don't need to look at anything ahead of time. The boldface is simple, and they help you through stand-ups, when you have them. My class didn't very often. The basic syllabus is 10 flights. The ninth ride is a "check ride" of sorts in that you must be able to take-off, fly a pattern, touch-and-go, and land without instructor help in order for your 10th flight to be a solo. It is fairly time consuming (you spend half your day at the airfield even if you aren't flying) but it's totally worth it. I loved the program. And the bold face is coming back as I head to IFS in a couple weeks! (2.5 years after powered flight)
