So I know there are post and info out there online, but i kinda want to find some personal accounts. I know that there is PT in the morning at 5am for the school I will probably be attending, which is gonna be killer haha. But once else do u actually do besides PT and the the actual class where u learn about history of the military, etc.?

At this point you've posted 150 times on this forum and won a scholarship. I apologize on the behalf of various people who couldnt bring themselves to give you the inside scoop on ROTC. The fact is most schools have a similar range of activities, but each school's unit has a unique character. Many if not most units have their own websites. However, if you're too busy to look this up or contact anyone at the specific unit you have in mind, here is a typical schedule:

1) Monday - skip classes between 10 am and 2pm; ogle coeds at the student union; Mandatory contract bridge class 6-7 pm
2) Tuesday - skip classes between 11 am and 3pm; practice for XBox tournament
3) Wednesday - Player's choice; optional hot wing eating contest
4) Thursday - Attend classes not on your schedule; investigate fraternities (MS1 only)
5) Friday - Recover from Thursday activities
6) Saturday - 1x/month Field Training - crawl through obstacle course strewn with broken glass and barbed wire.
7) Sunday - Remove glass shards from body; Prepare for Monday

Hope this helps.

MWF PT 0630-0730

T/R ROTC class- Roughly 2 hours

R Morning leadership labs-Roughly 2 hours

Most days I either have class from 8 to 4pm or I am at the hospital from 6am to 4 pm

Usually one weekend a month you go out to a nearby base (if available) and conduct training.

With other times gaps I go to the gym, go out on the weekends and play video games.

It's honestly not much different than every other college student

You just made my day.

Personally for me on ROTC days (which is T,R,F)

Wake up at 0445. Prepare and drive to CMC from my house (about 17 mi) for PT from 0600-0730. From there drive to UCR for class.

On Wednesdays I have MSL class, which is typically an hour long for an MS1, from 0900-1000.

I have lab every other week, and labs tend to go from 1200-1800.

sjbd94 - every school is different, so you really will be best served by asking someone in your battalion. That having been said, my son's official Spring `12 schedule looked something like this -

PT - MWF 6:30 - 7:25
MSI Class - T/TH 9:45 - 11:05
Lab - TH 2:00-5:00
Rangers - T/TH - 6:30 - 7:30 + other random times

Unofficially, he probably spends about another 10 or so hours a week in ROTC-related activities - weekend extended labs for Land Nav, volunteering around campus, going to the range to shoot, working out, etc.

As an MSI, he was not involved in every activity that the MSIIIs were, but more than all the other MSIs since he was on the Ranger Team.

At his school, you can literally spend all of your time/activities doing something ROTC-related, or almost none of it. There are some who come to class and PT and do very little otherwise. Others are in Pershing Rifles (color guard), Running Club, and hold active leadership positions. It all depends on your personal preference, and your ability to manage your time.

My son managed to combine ROTC, Rangers, a STEM major, and competing at the professional level in sport outside school and was successful in all. Your mileage may vary, but good luck and enjoy the experience!

Just so nobody gets confused, Jcc123, Pershing rifles and color guard are too seperate activities. Pershing is the marksmanship team.

My schedule is somewhat similar, yet different, since it varies by school.

PT is M/W/Th from 06-0730 unless you are a MSIII or MSIV and then you have M-F unless you have a 280 APFT.

MS Class is on T from 2-4. MS Lab is on Th from 2-finished. Usually around 4:30-5. MSIII's have lab until they finish STX's and recover ops which can be til 7-7:30 some days. Night Land Nav can go all the way until 12-1.

Ranger Challenge is every morning, lenth depends on the workout or length of the ruck. Color Guard and Pershing are in the afternoons. Weekends vary with training.

Bull - the Pershing Rifles may also be the marksmanship team at your school, but at 99% of schools they are the drill team / color / honor guard.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess if we wanted to get real technical, we could both agree Pershing Rifles is really a military fraternity/society of drill and discipline. Not just the name of a team.

What do you do in the labs?

Stuff like first aid, land navigation, STX (Squad Training Exercise), EPW, aid/litter, just basically essential knowledge for ROTC and LDAC in the future.

All kinds of stuff. Briefings, PT, competitions, field stuff... But they let you know ahead if time so you can be properly attired.

the Lab is a continual top secret search for a new magic potion that will enable Army to score a touchdown against Navy sometime in the next decade... it's an intense search.

M/W/R Regular PT 0600-0730
Mon-Sat Ranger Challenge Work Outs and Practices 0600-0730
R LLAB + MSL Class 1500-2100

Outside time for Color Guard events or just preparing for lab.
