Just heard from cadet son that all cadets are required to turn in their full dress uniforms after graduation -- apparently USMA is eliminating full dress. Can anyone confirm that this is why?

They turn them in for striping on the sleeves. Full dress isn't going anywhere.

All the buses going to the airports leave at 1pm and graduation ends at noon. That gives 4,000+ people roughly one hour to turn in their full dress in the only drop off point availible. If the cadet rumor mill was going to make such a crazy claim, they should at least make it logistically possible. Your son might be confusing the Firsties turning in their full dress after graduation since they have to wear it to it. Everyone else turns theirs in at the beginning of Fall semester for striping.

I remember 900 new 2LTs standing in line coming out of the Beat Air Force tunnel into North Area waiting to turn in WB items.

The cadets pay for their uniforms so they belong to them. Don't know why the Firsties would be turning in their uniforms unless to sell them.
