Whoo Hoo! :jump1:
Congratulations to the Kings Point Waterfront for finishing the 635 mile Newport to Bermuda Race at 20:05 EST. Conviction crossed the finished line 8th out of 160+ teams entered. At least 150 are still racing! Looking forward to official announcement and placement overall and in their division.

I bet they are tired. I bet they are thirsty. Something tells me (you tube) one of those things will be taken care of as soon as they dock!
Celebration Time!

It also appears, based on the race tracking data that USNA stopped after the finish line, and waited so that Navy and KP could come in to Bermuda together. Great comradery.

I do not think USCGA had an entry. The USNA did however and they were the 7th and last team to beat the 10 year old elapsed time record. They were also the last boat to finish in front of Conviction.
Our guys went 635 miles but were 26 minutes late to get in under the old record time set by Roy Disney in 2002.
However that does NOT diminish what they did achieve by any means!
So happy for them. I finally recieved a text from my DS who is loving life, loving KP, loving sailing, loving Bermuda, loving mopeds, loving his new friends...........maybe the text equivalent of " I love you man".

Coast Guard had a boat in the race....maybe even 2. GLORY was one for sure.

edit: it would seem just GLORY was entered by USCGA, and is still racing. Go BEARS!

edit AGAIN: Glory AND Stormy Petrel still racing. ;-)

Thanks for the correction Shellz. I was happy thinking they had more important things to do than race as in hanging around to bail everybodies butts out in a jam. :thumb: Coast Guard you rock!

That said, Go KP Beat Coast Guard!

The mids on Conviction did an amazing jib in a very tough race. 40 miles from the finish we faced a squall with two hours of over 40 knot winds, and top wind speed of 50 knots. Conviction hit her top speed of the race wih a storm job and double reef main - 27 knots! Great to be in Bermuda, cleaning and drying out the boat, getting her ready for the return trip and enjoying the island. Navy beat us good- congrats to Invictus and Swift- but KP beat the two USCGA boats! Looks like Conviction will finish 16 overall in a very good fleet, and our mids have had any amazing experience at sea. I'll have some pics and video up when I have consistent Internet..

Excellent results, KP! I saw some video posted on a CG site that showed the sea conditions, pretty tough but looked like a lot of fun.

but KP beat the two USCGA boats!

Now if they could only win more when it counts in the Superintendent's Trophy series.....:biggrin:
