Is there a list of what is allowed for doolies to have after A-day?
I understand that each squadron have different limits but is there a general itemization of what is OK and what is still considered contraband?

Thanks.

The guys no longer have to wear tighty whities, so our box included underwear for our son.
Girls can wear different underwear too than what they had to bring with them to Basic.

The computers they are issued are laptops - so a lot of cadets get separate monitors. There is a size limit for the monitor, but I don't remember what it is.

Each squadron decides if their C4Cs can have their own printer rather than have to use the printer in the squadron area.

We waited until DS knew what he could and couldn't have monitor and printer wise and then ordered them and had them shipped directly to him. Others wait until parents weekend to purchase/bring.

Another possible item to bring/ship is a compact sleeping bag -- they tend to sleep on either the floor or on top of their made bed, so the sleeping bag helps. They will have personal drawer where they can stash the sleeping bag -- but it should be one of the compact ones.

No music or gaming systems

After A-day parade,do we actually get to visit doolies dorm room or is this for parent's weekend?

I've seen cadre wear dark sunglasses all the time. Are doolies allowed to have them after A-day?

Are noise cancelling earphones allowed or is this up to the squadron?

Any input from upperclassmen would be much appreciated.

You will be able to visit the dorms during the visitation period, if desired. Sunglasses are permitted, so long as they meet the following guidelines:

Authorize conservative ornamentation on non-prescription sunglasses or eyeglasses, frames may be black or brown material or gold or silver wire. Brand name glasses may be worn with small logo on frames or lenses. Logo must be same color as frames or lenses. Conservative wrap-around sunglasses may be worn. Conservative, clear, slightly tinted or photosensitive lenses. Conservative lenses and frames (faddish styles and mirrored lenses prohibited).

I would wait on headphones until the squadron's media policy is known.

Are contact lenses allowed after A-day?
Are BCG no longer needed?
Can doolies wear their own prescription glasses?
Are they allowed to have multi-tool pliers/knife? (i.e. leatherman/swiss)
Is there Wi-fi access for doolies?
What are recommendations for cellphone/smartphones?
(which carrier is the best?)
Are data plans unneeded?

Thanks much for any input.

Are contact lenses allowed after A-day? Yes

Are BCG no longer needed? Not necessarily, but don't throw them out.

Can doolies wear their own prescription glasses? Yes

Are they allowed to have multi-tool pliers/knife? (i.e. leatherman/swiss) Yes. Less than 4 inch blade if the regs are still the same.

Is there Wi-fi access for doolies? For the issued computers, yes. Not for any other device.

What are recommendations for cellphone/smartphones?
(which carrier is the best?) Our son had a regular flip phone for doolie year, and then an iPhone for the next three. AT&T worked great for him all 4 years in both dorms.

Are data plans unneeded? Our son used his data plan a lot, especially when the Academy network was down. (Which can be a lot)
