DD recieved an email stating that her status was "admissible". What does that exactly mean?

It means that your DD's stats are good enough to be admitted but does not mean she will be. We were told that approximately 25% of the applicants make it to the admissable level so she is certainly at the upper end of the applicant pool.

During my son's recent interview with his FFR he was told that his status was admissible. Upon questioning, DS was told that there were now five categories (insert finger quotes):

1. Admissible (The FFR defined it as "a good shot")-he did not give percentages.

2.competitive-DODMERB (only the top part of the competitive candidates get referred for DODMERB)

3. competitive-NO DODMERB (a certain percentage of the competitive candidates do not get referred for DODMERB as they are not competitive enough)

4. At Risk (problems that need to be fixed IE poor test scores that may be movable)

5. No Thank You (problems that USMA feels can not be fixed-DS had no idea what those were and DS said he didnt ask)

Is this something that my son should know - his "category"? How would he find this out? Since he has already been scheduled for his DoDMERB exam, I would guess he is either "competitive" or "admissable".

@armydaughter--could your son just shoot him an email? seems simple enough. Though I am not sure it means alot (admissable that is)--the following is cut and pasted from a two week old thread.

This was the guidance as to the difference between admissible and competitive that we (Field Force) just received from our RC a couple weeks ago:

For the class of 2012, an "Admissible" candidate would almost certainly have gotten an offer. What has changed is how competitive it is to get in. Candidates generally need a much higher whole candidate score (WCS) to get in, so an admissible candidate is probably competing for admission, but may or may not be a shoe-in. It probably describes the top 30-40% of our candidates these days, but it also covers a very wide range. You could have two Admissible candidates from the same district and one could have a WCS that is literally 1000 points higher than the other.

Competitive candidates don't have any risk factors in their files, but overall we do not rate them quite as high as the Admissibles. An Admissible candidate will have a higher whole candidate score than a Competitive candidate. [/COLOR]

I don't have the email in front of me, but we were also told that the guidance was that for 2017 the only LOA's would be for minority candidates and recruited athletes. I'm curious to see if this in fact ends up being the case.

Shoot who an email?

@armydaughter: FFR/ Liason/ Congressional District Coordinator

(would be my guess-or your son can ask him in his interview)

I posted a few months back about who to contact for "little" questions. We haven't been able to find out who his FFR is. We have been told that the FFRs do not do interviews in this area. The only interview he is expecting will be the one for the MOC. DS has tried to contact his CDC several times since he was listed on the SLS acceptance letter - first just to make contact and then later with questions on various things. He has never heard back from emails or voice mail messages. He has called the WP admissions office directly a few times but I don't know if that would be appropriate in this case.

He has his DoDMERB on Thursday and takes his CFA as soon as school starts (when the PE teacher is available). Once that is done and his file is really complete, he will hopefully hear more.

Based on the limitations placed on Dodmerb exams, I would guess that your candidate is in good shape. If exams aren't being scheduled for some competitive candidates, and your candidate did receive an exam, that's a good sign at this early stage.

If you want to find a FFR to talk to, send me a PM with your State and District. If we can't find a FFR, we can go directly to the State Coordinator since you are having trouble reaching the CDC.

Odd that FFRs don't interview in your area since that is a major part of our role.

Agree with another13mom - if your DS has been authorized to schedule the DoDMERB exam, then he is at least competitive AND has completed a significant part of his application. Good job! :thumb:
