I was checking the status of my Army ROTC scholarship and it said that everything needed has been received except for the "Medical" part. What is this medical part of the status? I have never heard of such a thing before today. Thanks!
If they decide to award you a scholarship they will send you to one of their doctors for a complete physical. They have docs all around the country who are certified to do this and are paid by the military. If you pass the physical you're in, If not, you're not... unless you can get AROTC to grant you a waiver. If you're in good health then you needn't worry about it. In any case it's all initiated by AROTC, so you can just sit back and wait, and wait, and wait.
Good job getting everything done this early! Good luck!
Also, just know that they may possibly send you for a DoDMERB physical before you've been awarded a scholarship. It doesn't mean you're getting one, but at least it means you're competitive. This happened to my DS, and he did not get awarded a scholarship from the national level, but he did receive one from VMI. So we were so glad the physical was already taken care of. Good luck! It's such a roller coaster ride!
Last year my son did write the optional essay. I read "optional" as meaning mandatory if you are really interested.Did your DS write the optional essay for VMI?
true, but OP should be aware that what the Army considers "good health" may be different from what most people think of as good health.if you're in good health, you're in
