No. Nominations can only come from the VP, congressman, senator, and presidential which is service related
 
What about the slots for soldiers? I heard if a soldier gets a company commanders endorsment, it counts as a nomination.
 
The commanders endorsement you receive from your CO. When you turn it in, it is possible to get a Secretary of the Army slot.

That is how I got my nomination. I just turned in the commanders endorsement and I received a Sec of Army nomination.

So technically, no your CO does not nominate you. But you are likely to receive a nomination from other sources. I'd advise you try and get nominations from Congressmen as well.

For Active or Reserve Component soldiers that completed basic training, his or her commander's endorsement equeals "Soldier" nomination. There are 85 appointments reserved for active duty soldiers and 85 appointments reserved for RC soldiers. Accorodingly, any soldiers with Company commander's endorsement gets the nomination and compete for one of those 85 appointments.
 
Thank you very much...i just got back from basic about 3 weeks ago and recieved a loa on tuesday. What are my chances of getting one of the slots? I am national guard.

LOA (letter of assurance) or LOE (letter of encouragement)?

If your commander endorses you, you will get the nomination. With a LOA, you should get an appointment (assuming you are 3Q).

You commander does not have to endorse you, so be careful about how you approach your company commander.

And I will...we have a interview on the 13th of Oct.
So just double checking, once...if...i get the commanders endorsment, I will be nominated and and since I have everything done on my file (except medical test) and have a loa, I will be in?

no, you have to medically qualified, then you are in.
