Hi, I'm currently in my senior year and I want to join the ARMY as an officer/Nurse.

I was wondering, what are the requirements for the AROTC scholarships?

I'm in NJROTC right now.

Thank you

AROTC Requirements

Hi, I'm currently in my senior year and I want to join the ARMY as an officer/Nurse.

You can find the requirements here: http://www.goarmy.com/rotc/high-school-students/four-year-scholarship.html

Keep in mind that the requirements listed are the minimum requirements. In actuality your stats will need to be much higher to be awarded a scholarship. However, as long as you meet the minimums you can participate in the program without a scholarship.

You should start your scholarship application NOW! :thumb:

If you go to the GoArmy.com site and navigate through starting with the Officer section and onto ROTC they will give you the requirements for the RORC Scholarship Program and application. There is a current cadet that posts on here that is in the nursing program, I imagine he will give you a reply as well.

If you are a current senior in high school you will need to get started Now on your scholarship application, the deadline for the first board has already passed. The next board is in January.

Here are the deadlines and dates of the 3 AROTC Boards....Special thanks to Clarkson Golden Knights for this information.

1st High School Selection Board Deadline for Documents 1-Oct-12
1st High School Board-Ready List PMS Deadline 12-Oct-12
1st High School Selection Board 15-Oct-12
2nd High School Selection Board Deadline for Documents 26-Dec-12
2nd High School Board-Ready List PMS Deadline 4-Jan-13
2nd High School Selection Board 7-Jan-13
4-Year High School Application Deadline for SY 13-14 10-Jan-13
Final (3rd) HS Selection Board Deadline for Docs — Missing Items 28-Feb-13
3rd High School Board-Ready List PMS Deadline 8-Mar-13
Final (3rd) High School Selection Board 11-Mar-13

The best thing you could do right now is contact an AROTC Battalion at a University near you, make an appointment and talk with them about the process. I would not wait too long if you want to get everything complete for the 2nd Board.

EDIT: Kinnem, thanks for posting the link, I'm terrible at that.

Yes, I will make an appointment later this week.

Thank you very much of your help.

Send me a PM and I can answer any questions you have about nursing and AROTC or at least direct you to a source that can.

Start the application ASAP. You have until December to get everything in for the second board. You may not know what that means right now, but trust me, you want to have everything in by then if possible. Also remember that is you don't receive a scholarship from the high school board process you can still come to school, enroll in ROTC, and compete for campus based scholarships.
Good luck

I tried signing up but it says that i have to do the FAFSA. I have to do it with my parents right? For the FAFSA and the AROTC 4-year scholarship.

Your parents will need to do the FAFSA, or you can do it together, but your parents will have all the info. You should be able to complete the AROTC application on your own but your parents can help except for the essay and anything you say you created yourself as part of the application.

I don't know what you mean by "I tried signing up but it says I have to do the FAFSA." I've never filled out the AROTC application but I see no reason why it would require you to fill out the FAFSA. If you mean the college application, filling out the FAFSA is something normally done later, after the application is complete. In any case your family will need to update the FAFSA after the turn of the year and tax returns are completed, which your family should do as soon as possible next year. Each school has its own deadlines but any financial aid (other than ROTC) will be awarded based on either your academics, or the FAFSA (financial need).

So, what specifically wouldn't let you sign up without doing the FAFSA?

Opps, I'm sorry. It was different it was other application I'm working on. Sorry.

I noticed on a different thread you started that you received a reply stating you first need to become a US Citizen.

Just to clarify, are you currently not a US Citizen?

If you are not a US Citizen then you can stop with the application process unless you become a Citizen before the deadline for AROTC Scholarship Applications.

To serve as an Officer in the US Military you are required to be a US Citizen.
