Hello I am a transfer student and my gpa from my previous school was a 2.9. Will the AFROTC look at this gpa or the gpa I earn at my new school I transferred to?

Thank You

Apollo,

You are new to this site, I would ask the mods to combine your two threads since this is the same topic.

You are confusing me now.

Hello I have a relatively good gpa but a few years ago i took three online classes at my university and simply did not finish them.

Which is it? Transfer or not? Same school or different?

I am not trying to antagonize you, but your posts are contradictory. One post is a new school, one is at the same school.

Leave all of that alone, are you a C100? Let's hit the re-start button and assume 2.9 is your cgpa, the fact is it will matter if you are a C100/200 and what your commissioning yr group will be. We can really only help if we know those facts.

I am sorry for the confusion. I am a transfer student yes, but a few years back I decided to take some online classes at my new institution. I will begin the three year AFROTC program next fall. So when I transferred to my new school I technically already had three Fs on my new transcript. My question is, Will my gpa from my previous school be used by the AFROTC or will they only look at my new gpa at my new school. Again I am sorry for the confusion

You still haven't said if it was jump start for grades. Nor if you will enter as a C100/200.

It matters.

I have yet to begin AFROTC i plan on doing so fall 2013 in the three year program so i will be taking 100 and 200 classes fall of 2013 and spring of 2014 with the prospect of going to field training summer of 2014. The classes I failed are not jump start classes. They were simply online classes for my new college i transferred to.

Not to hijack the thread, but how does this work for Army ROTC? Is it just the GPA at the institution that is counted for accessions, or do they take into account all classes taken at every university you've attended?

Again the threads need to be combined.

You state you are a freshman, but took these classes 3 yrs ago, yet not jump start. It seems this is a very unique scenario, my best suggestion is to talk to the det.

mbitr,

AROTC and AFROTC are sister services, but when it comes to your question it would be best to start a new thread because AROTC does not have the same make or break yr (soph) as AFROTC. No SFT = No POC No POC= No Commissioning for AFROTC. There is no reserve or guard option, all AFROTC grads must go AD. Hence, no SFT the fat lady sung!

GPA is not established by ROTC... it is taken from your official Transcript at the school in which you are participating in ROTC. What is on the official transcript of your school? If your school uses prior school's grades to computer your CGPA at that school, then they count. For example, one school might not recognize certain classes taken at another school. Therefore, those prior courses wouldn't get credit on THIS school's transcript. Further, some school's might recognize the course credit, but won't accept the grade.

Bottom line, what is the Cumulative GPA listed on your official transcript? That's not an ROTC question, that is a registrar's office question.

In Army ROTC, each term the student fills out a 104-R form listing classes taken, classes enrolled in, and classes planning to take until graduation. The 104R has a box for Cumulative GPA. The cadet gets that number from his/her official transcript, and puts it in the box. The Army ROTC later verifies the CGPA on the 104-R against the cadet's Official Transcript.

Oh I see what you are asking now. I am not a freshman. By credit hours I am a Junior, and i took the online courses like 2 years ago. I am transferring to a bigger school from a community college.

I would suggest you talk to your academic advisor at the new college because as of right now you are a jr. credit wise. You need to see if they are going to accept all of those courses. Again, it comes down to your official transcript.

Additionally you need to talk to them because you must be a POC for at least 3 semesters. You will need to go to SFT, so for you, you must be there for 5 semesters, if you are a jr. now, even if you enter as a jr. next yr., you will need at least to stay for 1 additional semester.

I bring that up because if you are wanting to graduate on time you might think about going OTS and not AFROTC.
