Navy player’s unique name lands on ‘Jeopardy’

Thu, Nov 8, 2012

When your name is Wave Ryder, you're bound to get a little bit of attention.

When your name is Wave Ryder and you play for the Naval Academy, that gets you on "Jeopardy."

During Wednesday's evening's episode of "Jeopardy," Alex Trebek answered:

"Perhaps the most appropriate name ever: Wave Ryder of this service academy."

Navy football officials happened to be watching the broadcast, took a picture of the screen and captured one of the coolest moments of Ryder's young life.

Ryder, a junior safety from Kaneohe, Hawai'i, has 32 tackles this season and is a key contributor for the Midshipmen on special teams.

He's also now a television superstar.

Great Post. :thumb: Fair Winds and Following Seas for Wave Ryder.

Why did it take me a minute to get that "wave ryder" was appropiate? :(
Anyways, he is one lucky guy. He has a bright future ahead of him.

Do you perhaps live in Kansas? Could that be it?

Nope, I see it's Seattle. You're right again. Why did it take you a minute to get it?

I have a buddy who lived in Kansas. He says that they learn to farm before they learn proper English.
