Hi everyone. Im a junior in high school and i have been interested in the naval academy for a while now. I would like to do the marine option. I have done a lo of research on my own but would like to know how competitive of a candidate i am so any advice is appreciated!

Sports:
-will be a 3 year varsity letter winner and senior year captain
-honorable mention all district as a junior
-plays on a competitve club team in the spring
-formed, played on and coached an indoor team for 2 years
- varsity letter winner in track sophomore year
If possible i would like to play soccer forthe academy

Academics:
-4.0 GPA
#1 in my class out of 180
- lots of honors classes
-ive taken several history, math classes at the college near my high school and gotten good grades in them

EC's:
-top jazz group at high school since 8th grade
-class president for all 4 years
-volunteered at local hospital 100+ hours

Thank you for the help!

My .02 Which Isn`t Much, but...

This all looks very good. Don`t count on playing soccer if you`re not recruited, because as I understand it, soccer is not one of "those" sports that`s easy to be a walk on player.

Is the 4.0 weighted or unweighted? If it`s unweighted, that`s even better, but if it`s weighted, that`s still pretty good. Being first in class is excellent. College classes are definitely good.

EC's:
-top jazz group at high school since 8th grade
-class president for all 4 years

This looks good too. Volunteering is a +, and class president is also great.

My suggestions:

-Since you`re a junior, SAT and ACT are things that you`ll be taking this year, so be sure to do good on them. Have you already taken them? If you aren`t satisfied with your scores, then take it again....and again, and....you get my point.

-Just keep going with what you`ve got, and work hard. Keep a good Plan B and C open too.

-Apply for Summer Seminar when the applications open

That`s my .02 worth, and I`m sure others will have better ideas. :thumb:

The 4.0 is unweighted, and that makes sense about soccer. I just wasn't sure of how hard that would be to get into. Thank you very much for the help!
