ROTC Scholarship

Will my admission be affected negatively if I do not apply for a ROTC Scholarship?
 
If you don't mind me asking, what would be your reasons for not applying for a ROTC scholarship?
 
ROTC

It shouldn't affect it. They are two separate paths to become an Army Officer. Many will use the ROTC as a back up plan. Either one is a great path.

West Point is the path I want to take, I am fairly confident I will get in this year but if I don't my intention is to apply again. If that doesn't work then I will go ROTC.

Actually, the exact opposite. If you apply for an ROTC scholarship, it shows West Point that you are committed to becoming an Army officer. Having a back-up plan is a good thing.
 
Ok so an ROTC scholarship does help? Are you able to transfer schools with an ROTC scholarship, by transfer I mean transfer to West Point?
 
West Point is its own institution, there is no ROTC at West Point. West Point is also free tuition, so there is no need for a scholarship.

You are able to re-apply to an Academy as a ROTC cadet or midshipmen, with or without a scholarship.
 
@efirestone14 sorry I meant, under the regulations of the scholarship, does it allow you to change schools? Would it be an honorable discharge, or something like that?
 
I still made that complicated haha...basically, can you change schools if you have the ROTC scholarship
 
Last year DS applied ONLY to USAFA, don't think it negatively impacted his chances. He is a C4C at USAFA this year. Appointment was granted on 31OCT2011.
 
If you're on scholarship your first year, you are not contracted by the Army. So you can leave without any obligation. No discharge or anything since you're not contracted.

I'm assuming in your case, you mean reapplying to USMA while on scholarship. For first year, you wouldn't owe any money should you choose West Point after. And you would be allowed to do so.

I'm fairly new in ROTC so I'm very green in this area; check out the ROTC section on the forum.

I do suggest applying though; it doesn't cost you anything besides time.

Qualified, not selected. Basically I had everything to be considered for an appointment but was not selected.
 
Sorry about that, glad to hear you are motivated to reapply, best of luck to you this go around. What were your stats that year if you do not mind?
