I got a call from mt scholarship coordinator saying that I had an offer to be interviewed for an immediate scholarship decision. I am in the running for an appointment at USCGA. I am wondering if I mention CGA if that will give the commanding officer no reason to give me the ISR which would lock in a plan B i REALLY need if I don't receive an appointment. any input?

The purpose of the immediate scholarship reservation is to attract highly qualified candidates who will probably have other scholarship opportunites to NROTC. It's sort of like an LOA for the service academies if you're famliar with them. The officer doing the interview will understand you have other excellent opportunities and are pursuing them. I wouldn't think mentioning CGA would be a problem. That being said I don't think I'd go out of my way to mention it either. If it comes up in the course of the interview, great. If not, great.

One thing YOU need to confirm in the interview if you are offered the scholarship is that you can use it as plan B. I pretty sure you're not required to use it as plan A, but best to make sure.

You will still need to complete an NROTC scholarship application within 30 days of receiving a scholarship offer as a result of the interview to confirm the information you give orally during it. You must still pass the DoDMERB physical to receive the scholarship.

Good Luck. Relax and have fun!
