My son is invited to the BlueChip Dinner on the 19th ,just wondering if anyone knows anything about this? Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Is the "Blue Chip" dinner in North Texas? My son was invited as well. FYI. My son received the invite on Thursday and the following Saturday a B.F.E arrived.

Does your son have a nomination in place?

Don't know if this is the particular dinner your DS was invited to but here's a blurb on one in Dallas: http://www.usnaaa-ntx.com/article.html?aid=132

I think the key sentences from your perspective are:
...This event, hosting a number of outstanding candidates for admission to next year’s Plebe class, has been a major event for our chapter for over twenty- seven consecutive years. These young men and women are top academic and athletic prospects who are in demand by other universities and academies.... We are honored this year to have as our featured speaker Vice Admiral Michael H. Miller, USN, Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy. Admiral Miller, class of ’74, will inspire these young men and women with his enthusiasm and knowledge of the mission and work of the Academy.

Don't recall such an event being discussed here in the past, so not sure if other parts of the country do something similar. The above article sounds like it is a recruiting effort for those who are current applicants for USNA, don't yet have an appointment AND are also considering other colleges (which I assume most applicants are). Sounds like the N. Texas alumni association runs this. As a recruiting event, I wouldn't read too much into getting invited if you live in that part of the country, but could be an interesting event to attend to learn more about the Academy.

I think they are held in various locations around the country throughout the year. Just knew of this particular web page from another thread where it was mentioned. I imagine the alumni in each area are also involved.

I agree. The fact it isn't a USNA event means to me it is more of a local recruiting activity. "Blue Chip" is often used in the context of recruited athletes for major sports, this seems like something else.
