DS received the BFE today! Our DS and family are overwhelmed and proud of this fantastic accomplishment. Grandpa (82nd Airborne) is smiling down on him and we are praying that he will guide him through the challenges that lie ahead...GO ARMY!!!!

FYI...Letter states R-Day is July 1st.

Yessss!!

Outstanding!!! Finally some good news today.

Push Hard, Press Forward

Thanks for your kind words...exciting night here in NJ for us! DS is a recruited athlete, and has been focused on West Point since he was very young. He attended SLS and was a Boys State delegate with good EC's given the amount of time required for his sport. WP coach has been a tremendous source of information and encouragement to DS through the last 1.5 yrs. His ACT scores were:
Comp 31
Math 28
Science 30
English 33
Reading 33
Writing 29

Wow it is really starting to sink in....still so unbelievably grateful for this opportunity for our DS! Thanks on behalf of DS for the kind wishes from all of you. Just an update...DS mailed the gray acceptance card registered mail even though it was postage paid (not taking any chances). A small box appeared on the "overview" window of the portal which stated "appointment offered" with another box to accept or decline the offer. DS has checked accept! Looks like he is on his way...There are also other boxes for uniform and shoe sizes, personal info, travel needs for R-day etc...

He has dug in even deeper with school work, his sport and his crossfit training just in the past few weeks, he knows this is the real deal and he wants to be ready. Very proud of his dedication. No roller skating, skateboards or pogo sticks...lot's of bubble wrap!! HaHa

CrazyHorse, how is your plebe "enjoying" WP? I hope he/she is doing great.

Celebrate wisely

As a retired LEO (California Highway Patrol) one situation I was involved in comes to mind when I read about prospective cadets. I had just made a DUI arrest, and was filling out some paperwork while waiting for a tow truck when my arrestee said, "You don't remember me do you?" I turned to him and said, "No, should I?" He reminded me he had taken a ride along with me about 6 months prior. I then remembered him riding along with me and the fact that he had been trying to gain acceptance to the CHP academy. I asked how his efforts at entering the academy were going and he said, "Great. Tonight was a going away party for me. I was supposed to start in 2 weeks."

So with the holidays around the corner and New Years eve and everything else that pops up at this time of year, I remind everyone to be smart.

Our DS absolutly loves it!! He has made a lot of good friends and is enjoying the overall experience. He has gone through some tough times but nothing major. thank God. We video chat in the evenings about once a week. Althoe its only been about 5 months it feel like it was just yesterday that we attended R Day. Now as I type he is on his way to the airport for his winter leave.. We are all excited for his arival.
Enjoy these last 6 months together.
