I've seen this posted elsewhere in the forum but I couldn't find a definitive answer - and maybe there isn't one! Does being invited to CVW mean anything in particular or "hint" to anything? I don't want to read too far into it and get ahead of myself, but I attended NASS, received a LOA from CGA, and have 2 nominations, so I feel like I am a qualified candidate...

Can anyone shed some light onto what happens at CVW? Any good tips or anything? I'm a female and a sailor so I was hoping to meet with the coaches again and maybe some of the team (I've actually met them before at regattas and at NASS).

Thank you for your time and best wishes for the new year!

Assuming you got this unsolicited. Basically it is a good thing, especially if you seriously are considering NAVY. It will be an opportunity to see the actual classroom environment in action, spend more time talking with current midshipmen on all levels, and get a better sense of what life is like at Annapolis. While you probably won't have much time to talk with coaches, you might be able to change that situation via some pre-visit communication with the coach(es) of interest, so that you could meet with them on Sat afternoon. Dress appropriately, take warm clothes, take your toiletries, blanket, pillow, etc. Don't be afraid to ask questions that are important to you, be natural, and don't cop any attitudes. Best wishes and travel safely.

You bet it's a positive "hint." It's safe to say that USNA sees you as an attractive, still-fully-viable candidate for appointment, and are anticipating the reasonable possibility (NOT probability) that if all continues to go well, you may well be given an offer of appointment.

Non-viable candidates are not invited to CVWs in unsolicited fashion. Space, time, money would not be allocated otherwise.

So see it as very postitive ... if not very probable. Yet.

Enjoy, do as 64 has wisely advised, and soak it in. This is YOUR chance to ask any, all of the "hard questions" that you'd dare not ask in a BGO interview or group session. It's your time to figure out if both your heart and your brain are leading you toward this challenging, highly unconventional collegiate experience and professional life in service to your nation.

And remember ... it's ok to answer "no" to those and other tough questions. This is YOUR life. Not dad's or Uncle Joe-Who-Served-in-Korea, Nam, and everywhere in between. Do you see yourself there? Do you think you'd find "fits"?

And remember ... it's ok to answer "YES" to those tough questions.

My son received a CVW invite on Dec. 21. He responded that he wanted to attend in Jan or Feb. We have not heard back from USNA confirming the visit. Anyone else in the same boat?

This is my first post after months of stalking. Hope I posted in the correct place!

DD got a unsolicited CVW invitation via email on Dec. 19. She responded via the embedded link the next day, also saying that she wants to attend in January or February. Within a couple of hours, DD got back the automated email below, and has not gotten any further communications yet.

I can imagine, however, that the brief Admissions break over the holidays would stretch out the usual "week" turnaround for the instructions, etc.

"Thank you for registering for the Spring Candidate Visit Weekend program. You will receive an email with instructions and additional information within a week.

Sincerely,

USNA Admissions
"

Thanks OysterMom for replying. Hopefully, we will hear back soon.

Check spam. I believe when my DS went in October he got the initial CVW invite in his email; however, for some reason the follow up email with confirmation and list of items to bring, etc. went to his spam folder.

FUTURENAVYMOM - Thanks for the heads up. I'll have him check his spam folder.

DD has been doing that, and has added the source sending address to her contacts because the original invitation actually landed in her SPAM folder , but thankfully she caught it :thumb:

Same boat.

I received the invite on Dec. 19, and haven't heard back. All I got was the confirmation. And yes, I signed up for Jan+Feb.

OysterMom and Patriotic - Please let us know when you hear something. Thanks!

I've received my invite for Jan 31-Feb 2 today at 1:32 PM. Looks like a good handful got an invite for this since I can see people's e-mails attached. :thumb:

Yes! I got the email too! And wow, I'm surprised how many people there are! Hope to see/meet ya'll there! :)

Same here, same dates for DD. Looks like they ordered the emails alphabetically by last name, if I am interpreting the email addresses correctly. We are trying to find a couple of DD's friends from NASS session 1

Have not received an email with a Jan. confirmation. Wondering if that means he did not make Jan. session.:frown:

I cannot say for sure, but there is another CVW the very next week (and two after that). I hope that whatever schedule unfolds works out for you!

Hopefully, he'll hear something tomorrow.

Do you mind me asking how many names were on the email list? And did the email only discuss the Jan. date?

Counted 115. Give or take some human error. And yes only Jan.
