I am a new member, and am really interested in attending the USNA.
I am a sophomore at a Nationally Recognized preparatory school in Florida. Every year about 10-15 seniors out of the 200 student class go on to fabulous Universities, such as the Ivy Leagues, Duke, Stanford, Vanderbilt, etc. I don't know if this will make a difference, but my school has deep connections with the Navy/Marine Corps. A good amount of the adminisrators are retired officers, including the president of the school. I would like to know if my grades and extra curriculars are good enough from anyone who has been admitted to the academy.
In the top 15% in my class
Have taken all honors courses (except for a required non-honors course)
Had all A's (except for a B in one semester)
Will be taking 3-4 AP courses next year, 7-8 total by Graduation
Will have taken 6 years of Mandarin Chinese by Graduation
Will have been on the Varsity Golf Team for 4 years by Graduation
Will have been the Captain of the Golf Team for 2 years by Graduation
Will have founded a school club
Will have been the President or Vice President of 4 school clubs by graduation
Will have been inducted into the National Honor Society
Will have 250+ Community Service Hours
Have been an active member of my church
Have been a missionary to Central America
Have won 2nd Place in a Medical and Health Science Science Fair
Have worked a part-time job at a medical office
Have completed several leadership programs, both from my school and outside
Have been a Co-editor and essayist/columnist of the school Literary Magizine
I have also been studying for the SAT/ACT for months now, but have not taken it yet, similarly I have not done a practice fitness assessment, but I am in solid physical shape. Thanks in advance for any responses!
