I heard that letters of recommendation (for application to class of 2018) must be from your Junior-year math and english teachers. However, I see nothing on the site about any sort of letters at all. Does anyone know which part of the application the letters fit into? I need to secure a letter from my English teacher ASAP because he is a very popular teacher and he gets many requests by as early as February.

On your application (which has not opened for the class of 2018) you supply an email address for your math and English teacher. They are contacted by usna almost immediately. They are asked to click a link which takes them to a series of questions about you, your work performance, etc. They are given an opportunity to write comments on there. It takes all of five minutes.

so as far as I understand it, I need a teacher evaluation (that's the one from math and english) and somewhat optional letters of recommendation for the academy itself. Additionally, it appears that I will need recommendation letters for each nomination as well. can these letters be used in both settings; nomination as well as application to the academy?

A.) Yes this is done online only. You only send USNA their email address.

A.)No, these are not needed.

A.) Yes, however, each MOC may ask for different letters-and may ask for different methods for these to be turned in as well (web based, snail mail, email). They may be from teachers, guidance counselors, employers, coaches, community members, or none of the above. You can probably find out now what your MOC will need for next yr by looking at their website.
