I been following these forums regularly, but this is my first post, so here goes.

About two weeks ago, I noticed in CIS that I had received a nomination from a MOC, then two days ago he called and told me that that I had received my appointment. I thought he was mistaken and called back, asking if he meant a nomination or an actual appointment. He replied that this was the real thing and that I should get something in the mail in a day or two. Yesterday I received his letter stating that I did deceive his nomination but that I would have to wait to hear from the academy about an appointment. What do you guys think. Is it an appointment or just a misunderstanding.

So, your asking us to make a guess as to whether or not the MOC understands what nomination means and what appointment means and also what items crossed in the mail etc? OK, I'll guess that he's smart enough to know the difference and that it's an appointment.

What does your portal say? Did you have the Principal or Primary Nomination?

They usually allow the MOC a week to notify you before sending the BFE. So if it is an appointment you might have to wait at least several days longer.

Thanks for you fast response kinnem, after reading my post I guess I should have been a little clearer and for that I am sorry. Anyways, all that CIS says about my nomination is who gave it and the date it was received, no idea whether it is a primary nomination or not. I will call his officer Monday to try and clear things up.

The CIS won't say "principal" nomination. But the letter you got from your Congressman telling you that you received a nomination may state that you received a principal nomination. What does the letter say? It sounds like the Congressman was telling you on the phone that the Academy will be sending you a BFE. It could be a couple of weeks before you actually get it in the mail, because, as kinnem said, they give the MOC time to call you. It took 2 weeks for my DS to get the BFE once his MOC called him to say he had received the appointment.

I got a call from a congressional aid telling me that DD recieved an appointmet to USNA. I asked if it was nomination or appointment? The aid didn't know the difference. It was during a change from one Congress Person to another. They are on a learnig curve regarding applications and appointments..

The letter from him could just be some "Congratulations for completing this step; you have three more to go!" form letter that gave no regard to your specific situation, and you have an appointment on the way.

I wish the best to you as we are in the same situation.

My kid got a call at from the MOC at the first of the week saying congrats to an appointment. By the end of the week, my DD was questioning what she heard. So she called the MOC's office and was made privy to the email saying she was getting a FQ Offer of Appointment. Still we need the BFE ourselves to sleep peacefully. Waiting is wearing us out.

Note - email did state that letters were to be mailed at the end of the week to give time to call the Candidate. So today is the end of the week. We will be greeting the mail man everyday now hoping for the best.

From what you're describing it sounds as if you have been accepted into USNA and should be receiving the BFE soon. It has been reported here admissions usually informs the MoC's office about the appointment and allows them time to make the phone call before sending the BFE. Not every appointee will receive a phone call but they will eventually find a manilla BFE on their doorstep. Good luck. Cheers.

Thanks

Thanks one and all, your replies have helped put my mind at ease. Will update with conformation tomorrow after I contact my MOC.

It's official, I've received my appointment. Again, thanks for all those who posted.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done. Did your letter come via regular mail or FED EX? Waiting is tough.

Enjoy your success.
