Application additions

I completed my application in the fall, a few months ago. Since then I have faxed two different sheets with additions to my application (joining teams, awards, etc.) According to the academy's website all applications must be complete by January 31st. Does this mean that this is the last day that I can submit an addition or can I submit them later?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Does anyone have any tricks to help with the agonizing wait?

The academy is pretty firm with their cutoff dates. However, it never hurts to submit last minute awards.

Sorry. The majority of methods for dealing with stress that I am familiar with involve activities requiring one to be over the age of 21. Eventually, you are waiting again anyway. Remember that many have been in your shoes before. The successful ones tend to keep busy with their activities, athletics, and academics. BTW, just wait until March when you hear appointments are rolling out in bulk. Best wishes and keep doing what you have done to get this far. :thumb:

Thanks for the help! I'll be sure to get one last addition in before the deadline!

Also I have no doubt that AP Calculus and AP Chemistry, along with Track and a few other things, will keep me plenty busy:redface:

DS just emailed his ALO his additional information. Does the ALO then send it to Academy admissions, or should we fax it to the admissions office as well?

I've also wondered what the role of ALO is, for some it seems to be mentor/cheerleader. All we have heard is 'enjoy your senior year'. Excellent and practical advice, indeed.

The waiting is another test of character, for hopefuls and parents alike. Planning four different Plan A, B, C and D scenarios for the family summer has kept me busy. DS has AP Calc and Physics...but we still check here regularly, 'just in case'. :)

Your DS should mail/e-mail additional information directly to the Academy. He should also follow-up with a phone call or e-mail asking for confirmation.

The role of the ALO is to assist you through the admissions process. They all interview candidates (USAFA and AFROTC) within their jurisdiction. Some ALOs serve 1 high school while others cover more. Some administer the CFA, although most do not. Some ALOs even spend hours each week on these forums, although most do not. What you can expect from your ALO depends on the demands of his/her full-time job and the amount of time they have available to invest in their candidates. This varies significantly from ALO to ALO. All I know is that my DS maintained contact with his ALO during the application process and through the wait to I-Day. He continues to seek occasional advice from his ALO as a C3C. The relationship is what you make of it.

If you think the waiting is hard now, just wait until the Appointments start to roll out and some Appointees are getting congratulatory phone calls from their MOCs. Not all MOCs call, so there is a lag time between those Appointees who hear from their MOCs and those who do not. Remember that we are hear to encourage you and your DS throughout this roller coaster ride. It IS okay to vent and ask the tough questions. Wishing your DS all the best. :thumb:

Thankful!

Dad, I am very glad I asked, thank you so much, we will now send it to the admissions office.

Good wisdom. I am thankful our ALO is doing his job, which is probably to keep the Middle East safe in a tumultuous time. We have found our cheerleaders and mentors right here on the forum - which almost makes the waiting even worse, as we see the kind of people our DS could be working with!!

Our MOC is super to work with, both the phone interview and when he called to let us know of the nomination. Since we are nine time zones ahead of Illinois, it was a 1am call. Now, anytime the phone rings late we will jump to get it. :)
