In-State tuition for NROTC?

Which schools on the list of NROTC programs will offer an out-of-state student off scholarship in-state tuition? I have read that Texas A&M does, but are there others?

There is a sticky at top that can help you, it is in the early pages. Can't remember which post number, look around 15-20 for it.

However, it is really to your best advantage to contact the individual college you want to attend. Colleges are unique not only for the majors they offer, but the feel of the school is different.

I don't know where you live, but let's say you live in NC are you going to travel to Idaho, AZ or Oregon if they offer IS for OOS along with going to TX too? Is it realistic to place those schools on your list just because they offer IS?

I get you are exploring your options, but my advice to you is you know what schools you like and how far away you are willing to go, start with your choices and contact the bursar to find out if they do.

The following was posted by P-Flying17 back in Sept 2011. P-Flying17 is a NROTC insider and always helpful with clarifying information. This may be dated and should definately be checked out. But it is a starting point:

The best thing to do is call the NROTC Unit at the school you are interested in and ask if that school offers reciprical agreements.

Any NROTC Scholarship student is eligible for instate tuition at any public Texas School.
Texas A&M University
Texas A&M University at Galveston
University of Texas
University of Houston
Texas Southern University

There are schools that offer reciprical agreements with other states, but none to the effect that Texas does.

For instance State University of New York offers instate tuition for residents of Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Wisconsin has a reciprocal agreement with Minnesota.

Minnesota currently has one with North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The Citadel offers to certain counties in Georgia. South Carolina will occassionally offer instate tuition eligible scholarships.

Also

Some schools offers students who parents are Purple Heart Recipients instate.

Also if your parents are on Active Duty, find out where they file taxes because that would be a place you would qualify for instate tuition as well.

Also for military dependents, some states will allow them IS even if the parent PCS's. For example, in NC if your folks PCS in June after you have been accepted you are still considered IS. Our friends sold their home, bought a new one in VA and their DD still paid IS for 4 yrs.

The reason they allow this is because they know the folks have to follow military orders, this was not a choice they made, but was made for them.
