What has been the Academy's stance on granting an off campus pass to someone who has a family wedding or other special family event to attend to during the school year (especially as a freshman)? This is my brothers wedding and I would very much like to attend, but I am unsure if they would let me leave for like a Saturday and Sunday.

Has anyone else had an experience regarding this?

You will be allowed to leave for a sibling's wedding.

I know this is the USAFA page, but what about for USMA: would I be able to leave for a weekend for my parent's 25th anniversary in September (as a Plebe)?

Geez, that's pushing it.

Let them have fun without you. Send a gift.

My sons were not permitted to leave for their parents' 25th anniversary. They sent us gorgeous flowers and we talked later on the phone. I was 100% ok with that since they hadn't been there for the wedding, after all.

It depends on your squadron. My son was able to leave in October of his freshman year for a family reunion. I don't know about WP.

But they were there 6 months later!

No no no. I KEED I KEED.

I've always looked at my parent's aniversary as something between them that I congratulate them on. They didn't have to have me, but they did, so they should celebrate my birthday with lots of presents. I am a miracle, after all!

Oh your logic is just priceless!

I did not realize shotguns were standard government issue for weddings... So that's where the budget excess is.

Those two were hilarious as youngin's: they told their nursery school teacher their parents weren't married, cause weddings were "gross."

Let your parents celebrate their anniversary on their own - and throw them a big party (on your own dime!) for their 30th!
