Hi, I'm currently medically qualified through DoDMERB, but if I have gallbladder surgery or and appendectomy will that disqualify me for this application process?

If you were to have abdominal surgery, you would certainly have to report it to DoDMERB and they will temporarily DQ you. They would then send you a remedial requesting a report from your surgeon indicating that you have completely recovered. However, the recovery period may extend longer than acceptable by USAFA. It is possible to receive a conditional Appointment. You HAVE to be qualified by the date indicated. They do that so you have time to get in shape for BCT.

I am fairly certain that an appendectomy (without complications) would not be a problem. The gallbladder, I'm not sure about, but I think it would fall into the same category. The issue concerning me the most would be why you had to have your gallbladder removed.

I sincerely hope that you do not need surgery. If you do, do not compromise your health for the hope of an Appointment. Best wishes. :thumb:
