Hey guys,
I haven't been here for a while. To fill you in, As of this past week all of my scholastic "requirements" for a lack of a better word have been completed. The only thing I have to do is my Physical evaluation and my CFA...both of which are scheduled.

The catch is, I didn't receive a nomination. So that means I'm looking at the foundation schools/NAPs as an alternative. I had told my BGO that I would accept a slot at NAPS/ or a foundation school. I understand that my academic profile will go under review within this week, my question for you guys is how will they respond to me? Maybe I'm not as clear as I could be, to put it in other words being that I had stated I would in fact accept a slot at a Foundation school would the Academy consider me academically qualified? Or would they say I'm in consideration for an appointment at NAPS/foundation school? Or could they just tell me flat out I'm not in consideration at all?

And in regards to others, do most say they would accept a spot at NAPS/foundation school? Or do most turn that down? And in regards to selection, I've read on here that the selection for NAPS/ foundation school is random? Is there any truth to that statement.

Thanks for all the help. Any help is appreciated.

NAPS/Foundation are offered to certain candidates whom USNA believes could benefit from additional academic prep. Often, they have high standardized test scores/low GPA or class rank or the converse. I would not say the selection is "random."

If you are academically qualified for USNA, you probably are "overqualified" for NAPS/Foundation and thus wouldn't be offered a slot in either program.

If you told your BGO you would accept either program, you will automatically be considered if you aren't considered academically qualified for a direct appointment. There is nothing more you need do. However, being accepted to either program is far from a certainty. I don't know the acceptance rate for either program; my guess is that it's fairly high but that's only a guess.

If you don't have a nom, there are still a few options for a direct appointment (search for other recent threads on this subject). However, being honest, most of those without noms at this point will receive turndowns. Thus, your best approach is to move forward with Plan B and hope for the best wrt USNA.

There is no link. As has been described before, there are a LIMITED NUMBER of Superintendent's nominations that USNA can give to a candidate it really wants who does not otherwise have a nom. You cannot apply to this source, but it is an option for USNA.

There is also the VP nom, if you applied for it.
