Academically Qualified, waiting on waiver.

This is my second year applying to the Federal Service Academies (I was denied admission to the class of 2016 because of color deficiency). I found out early last week that I was academically deemed qualified. However, I have not been medically reviewed for a waiver consideration.

IS there a specific time frame (approximate) of how long the wait usually is?

Thank you.

As I understand it, the waiver process does not start until you are academically qualified and you have a nomination. Also, I hate to be the one to break it to you but it is rare that USNA or USAFA will waiver color deficiency. USMA does so with regularity. You might want to go to the DODMERB forum and read the thread on color deficiency.

If you still have questions about how to expedite the waiver process send me a PM or VM and I will share how we navigated the waiver process in just a couple of weeks.

Can you give me insight to how you expedited the waiver process. My son has a nomination, has received notice he passed his cfa, not sure of academic status, and is waiting on waiver. Was told to wait the process out but if there are things he can do to expedite this it would be helpful.

This is not necessarily true. While academic qualification is pretty necessary to be reviewed for a medical waiver, I received my waiver from USNA prior to receiving my nomination, which thankfully came on the 31st!

I've heard of people receiving waivers any time between their medical disqualification and as late as I-day. Good Luck!
