The Academy is closed today, Friday, February 8th; only emergency civilian personnel and essential military members are authorized access. Admissions Officers should be monitoring their e-mail, if they have electrical power at their home, but most inquiries will not be responded to until Monday, February 11th.

I remember my first snow in 2003.... no marching or doubling timing to class (that right kids, we used to run in leathers and boots).

I did that as fourth class...although it wasn't because we had too. I had this annoying habit of forgetting which folder my SED homework was in. I did a lot of running from Mac to E annex and back that year :smile:
 
PLEASE! I had a prof. in Satterlee who liked to let us out a little late, and my next class was in Smith.... and in general, no one was bussing up in that direction... HORRIBLE.

And that's back when we had bridge coats, so double-timing from Satterlee to Smith in bridge coats.... YUCK.

Of course, going from the freezing cold, and then double timing through burning hot Chase in bridge coats....

let's just say that made "Winter Dress Challenge" pretty gross.
 
Oh never you fear, bridge coats are back. And somehow, as a firstie I have managed the beloved "Satterlee-Smith-Satterlee" walk.

And kudos to you if you did indeed complete the WDB challenge. My hats off.

Bridge coats are back?!?! GREAT! We were not fans of the change to all parkas.


Satterlee Smith Satterlee is a GREAT workout.

As for WDB challenge, I had too much respect for my non-pit stained winter dress (and then winter dress went away for a few years, as we switched from working blue to ODUs).

Bridge Coats are indeed back, and are once again keeping cadets warm. Now are you referring to the Winter Dress Blues Challenge or to a different one?

I know a couple cadets here are trying to do it. Unfortunately they ran out of my size shirt when they were issued so I only have one... therefore that is DEFINITELY not an optino :yllol:
 
When I was a cadet we used to wear winter dress (the dark blue long sleeve shirts with ribbons, ties, nametags and collar devices) during the winter and trops (which used to be called tropical blue long) in the spring, fall and summer.

Eventually, as good little cadets we started "working blue Wednesdays". Working blues are those ugly, but comfy uniforms that looks like gas station attendant uniforms. The working blue trou, combined with the trops shirt (with collar devices instead of shoulder boards, and no ribbons) and boots instead of leathers, were called "Undress".

Anyway, "winter dress challenge" was making it through the entire winter wearing only one winter dress shirt.

Winter dress was made out of some material that allowed you to just scrape food right off of it, but if you ironed it, the material got really shiny (because you semi-melted it).
 
I've never heard of the Undress, however the Winter Dress Blues are back (as is the challenge) We wear them in the winters and still have the Trops in the Summer.

I swear to God those shirts are the fabric version of Teflon.
