One hurdle down, one to go. I received a letter today from the RC that says "You received a Letter of Assurance based on the overwhelming strength of your file. West Point will begin tendering most appointments at the end of February 2013 and yours will be in the first wave of packets mailed out at that time." I don't really have anything else to add to my file, but it looks like I got a green light with West Point. I had a post earlier about the CFA and pulling off 4 pull ups. been 3 weeks and I'm already up to 6 fresh (assuming I didn't swim laps earlier in the day). Looks like the 4 was a passing number.

Now the last hurdle is DODMERB. I had three disqualifications: Broken arm (cleared). Fracture on the floor of my orbital (cleared). Pre-glaucoma diagnosis as a result of the testing for the fracture. I sent in a letter from the same doctor that diagnosed me specifically summarizing the test results I sent in that basically said "He does not have glaucoma. Military career will not be impeded, he's a great candidate." Normally I wouldn't be that worried but it is the government and until I hear from them in paper... gotta keep it tentative.

Congratz! Didn't know that they still sent out loa this late. But really good news. I can't help but get jealous:redface:

Also from SW Region

Congratulations PJay! You had a bad break last year (no pun intended). So happy that everything has worked out for you! :thumb:

I am so happy for you. Please keep me updated. I can't wait to see how everything comes together for you. Trust God.

Bahaha. Don't lie, the joke was definitely intended.

I had the LOA all year but it took me a while to get fully qualified (primarily the medical chain of events). God has me in his hands and this year has been a great growing year, and am much more mature than 12 months ago. Time has been ticking pretty fast so just gonna see the last segment of this race and see it through till I board that plane with nothing but a backpack and a pair of boots.

I really can't wait to hear how the rest of it will work out. As I said, trust God, but it seems like you are doing a good job of that.

My DS received the same letter as well. All very excited here! LOA for Class of 2017 has been on the table since his medical waiver was denied for Class of 2016. Sounds like you two have similar circumstances - appointed, injured, no waiver, wait, wait, wait, appointed to Class of 2017. Congratulations to you PJay. I hope you and my DS get to meet each other soon!!
