I'm going to be gone the week they say the response letters to STEM applications will be mailed out, so I just want to know when I should expect the response. Can anyone that has been to STEM previous years tell me when they got theirs? Thanks!

Given the parameters of program application, I would suspect that the peak of notifications would occur around mid-April, although some notifications would occur earlier depending upon the credentials of the applicants.

Please bear in mind that the people who will be involved in STEM application processing also are involved in screening/selection of the Class of 2017, and screening/ selection of NASS, conducting Admissions Forums and HUB training sessions across the country, and other duties - and just helped move the Admissions/Candidate Guidance Offices across the Yard.

Thanks, seems like this is the busiest time of year.

When my DS was accepted to STEM a few years back his notification came in mid-March which was a few weeks earlier than expected. He was one of the early notifications as best we could determine. However, it was a bit more difficult to keep track of as the on-line media was not the primary source of information sharing (just four years ago).:yllol:

Doing some research, I've found that most people get notified early April. I'm so anxious, holy cow.

USNA STEM

Just a question. My DS applied as a freshmen to USNA STEM. Wondering how competitive he may be. He had a 3.0 in a JROTC program, very competitive HS taking a full load of AP courses. I surmise it would have been an east 3,7 to 4.0 at his former public school.

The only test score he had was Explore results 20 composite out of 25, 88th percentile overall nationally. 85th percentile in math and science, 90th percentile in reading and 73rd percentile in English. I spoke to ACT prep and after taking 10th grade PLAN if all else stays same he is predicted to score 21-30 on ACT with and average of 24-28.

Does this make him slightly compettive or is STEM a reach for him?

Thanks

I think for STEM it really depends not only on superb academics, but also race and geographic location as it is an outreach program. I applied last year with a 4.0 in all honors and didn't get in as a Freshman. I'm hoping to get in this year, as I did well on the PSAT with a 216.

USNA STEM

Bear: Fantastic GPA and PSATs! Good luck on getting in this year and I appreciate the feedback.

I see NSLC has STEM courses at Georgia Tech this summer (11days). I think others schools like Berkley also have STEM. See NSLC site.

Perhaps that could be a back up plan.

As for us, we will hold tight AND think about applying for another STEM should we not get in.

All the Best.

I'm an Asian-american Freshman in Seattle with a 3.9 GPA.
I've won 2 leadership awards from YMCA (Free admission to their leadership camps)
Honors in all classes that I can take honors in, no PSATs, SATs, or ACTs.
Varsity/JV (I'm a swing) in Wrestling, Starting Track this Spring.

What are my chances?

First round of acceptance letters go out Tuesday, according to the Admissions office on FB. All will be notified by April at the latest.

I'm looking on the Facebook wall and I don't see anything that suggests so.

This might be what people are talking about...

Naval Academy Admissions
Hi Nancy, the first round of letters will go out on Tuesday. However, just because a student doesn't receive anything in the first round does not necessarily mean they won't be selected. All applicants will know their final status by April 15.

Hope I get accepted. Applied on the first day just for it.

Are the acceptances/rejections only by mail or do they also send an email if your application went by the board?

Didn't get an e-mail today. Gonna wait for the next round. The plane tickets would be cheaper if I could buy them sooner lol.

STEM

Hi everyone,

If it's any consolation, my son was never accepted to the STEM program, and I know he applied at least twice. He had great stats and was always encouraged to continue applying, but just didn't get the selection.

He was asked in his Junior year to attend a Candidate Visit Weekend, and was accepted to attend NASS and was appointed to the Class of 2016. He's enduring the "Dark Ages" at the Academy right now!

One of his friends was rejected for all the programs, but received an Appointment.

Just wanted to put this in, because I recall how grueling this entire process can be on the applicant and the parents.

Good luck to you all!!

Lol still waiting for my application, I applied on the second day.

My DS went to STEM as a sophomore. He applied first day the application opened up and did not hear till April on his acceptance. His NASS acceptance came much faster then the STEM acceptance.
