First generation & English not spoken at home.

So, how many of you (or your DS/DDs) have been first generation american, and/or dont speak english at home that got into NAPS/USNA? I'm just curious, because I saw the statistics and they scared me. :eek: (Being serious)
 
Matas, No worries bud. If you want to be an officer (not free education) work on doing your best with school classes, SAT/ACT, PT, and being a great person overall. Send in your application when its your year/time.
 
Matas I came to the US 6 years ago. I do not speak English at home. Being first generation won't affect you at all from getting an appointment. Trust me. As jbsail said just focus on your academics as well as physical fitness. And show them you really want to be there. And last thing you want to do is getting scared by those statistics. Good luck.
 
Out of my platoon of around 40 people at NAPS, 3 were born outside the country, 2 of which were prior enlisted and one was a direct entry to NAPS. Plenty make it in with English being a second language.

1 was a direct entry. I don't plan on enlisting, but NROTC if I don't get in. These statistics are very reassuring. (Yes, that was me being sarcastic).
