I am a junior in HS and have begun my application for the Army ROTC scholarship.

I applied after the start date for the 2014-2015 cycle (Feb. 10, 2013).

I initially filled out the application but did not complete it. I listed myself as a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT.

However, I received a letter today from Cadet Command HQ's stating that I am disqualified because "I AM CURRENTLY ATTENDING COLLEGE FULL TIME OR WILL BE THIS FALL."

This has happened to me last year for I made the mistake of applying MUCH too early. I rectified my mistake with HQ and was removed from the system (or so they said).

What should I do? The letter says "IF YOU HAVE A CHANGE IN STATUS IN THE DISQUALIFYING AREA, WE WILL HAPPILY CONSIDER YOU FOR A SCHOLARSHIP NEXT YEAR."

Has this happened to anyone?

Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks! :thumb:

As you were told in the past, you started your application way too early, this has resulted in CC thinking you will be starting college in the Fall of 2013. Even though you talked to CC and they said it was fixed, it is more then likely still in the system. You need to call CC and talk with them, let them know again that you first applied to early so they can upgrade your status. Don't be surprised if this comes up again, you will need to stay on top of things with CC in case your previous application attempt keeps showing up.

There are only about 4 people that process over 10,000 applications, glitches like you caused can sometimes be difficult to be removed. Stay in contact with them throughout the process.

First thing to do is call CC and try and straighten out your situation.

But this time I started much later than the initial start date (around feb. 20). Why would this still occur?

Because they have not completely cleared your last application attempt from the system. You need to work this out with CC to make sure they get it straightened out before you are able to start you new application. You threw a cog in the wheel when you applied too early, it can sometimes take some work to get things cleared up.

Just get yourself processed with CC. Like Jcleppe said there are a handful of people processing a national pool of hopeful applicants.

Also keep in mind that the Scholarship system that CC uses is not the most modern one so factoring in a small staff with a relatively outdated system and you'll have problems like this linger, sometimes intentional and sometimes not. If you really want it, make the effort to follow through and keep everything in check.
