MY DS tried to call admissions onces his portal changed to HOLD. He couldn't get through so he contacted his field admissions rep. He got an answer right away. My son's guidance office miss calculated his class rank and sent the wrong information. We knew this was wrong so we contacted his high school and the correct information was sent FEDEX. With that being said his Field Rep said that there are 5 vacancies in our states and 2 may not be filled. We assume because of cut backs but after visiting last week they are only taking 250 into this class (one dorm is under constructions) plus all academies are not admitting as many students in 2017. Again, what we were told is that one candidates was given a conditional appointment in the middle of February, one given an appointment (we since found out that he is waiting to see if he got into USAFA, USNA), and the third was a hold over from last year a candidate from NMMI he will be accepting the appointment. Needless to say we were very upset with my DS guidance office and believe that this made a difference in where he fell. Not sure how many from our states got nominations but we where also told that 7 candidates hadn't completed the application process as of February 22nd and being in HOLD means our DS is still in the mix. This is his first choice and got three nomination. We will know on or before April 10th. Good Luck To You and or Your DS and or DD.
