Today I was told by a Personnel Specialist Second Class that he received a BFE for me with paperwork due by May 1st. He told me I was accepted and that my Director would be contacting me. For those of you who received BFEs, does this sound like the real deal or is he pulling my leg?

Here's what my gut is -- those guys in personnel learn not to joke around about that stuff by screwing with people about their billets. Good luck, hope you got your appointment shipmate!

I looked him square in they eye and said "You're not screwing with me are you?" and he says that I got in. Does anyone know if the 1 May deadline for the paperwork is the proper date? I want to believe him but my gut says that there is some fishy trouble brewing haha!

The only problem I am seeing is that NOBODY but this PS2 has any idea about this. Command Career Counselor, Dept. Head, nobody. So it may be legit, it may not be, I guess I'll find out soon.

May 1 sounds like a legit date. It's certainly when other college acceptances and paperwork are due and I think the Academy adheres to that. Hope all our surmises are correct and Congratulations!

I sincerely hope this E5 isn't pulling one over on me! That would make me pretty miffed!

Last year's acceptance/declination statements had to be mailed back to USNA by May 1 or 5 days after receipt, whichever occurred later. May 1 does sound plausible if your appointment is legit.
Cheers.

I still have an eerie feeling that this may be a sick joke from someone (you can never know in the enlisted navy) but assuming that things go as they seem, I will be very excited tomorrow!

DD's offer letter dated Feb 08 2013 says: "After you have made your decision, please return the enclosed acceptance/declination certificate as soon as possible, but in any case by May 1st or within one week of receipt, whichever is later."

So, May 1st is, at least at this house, the official date.

Hopeful congratulations to you, Lukepeoples!

Lukespeoples - I am going to give my congratulations to you that you have gotten something, either appointment or NAPS. Saying this with gut feeling as this specialist knows that you have been "hounding" everyone one for weeks for any kind of news. He would also surmise that you on hearing this would try all avenues with your superiors to get to the bottom of this seemingly good news and who has your package. My opinion, he would be a real moron to give you false information, he probably has no authority to do so. May 1st deadline could be real feasible for enlisted because you are not going in as a graduating high school student. You have to be processed out of the military, new orders, etc. and you know well that takes time. So again congratulations!

I was just told that I need to be in my uniform at my Department head's front desk at 0800 on Thursday. I'm either going to captains mast for something or this is the real deal.

I expect a full report on the details of the Captain's Mast!

Haha that was a joke, I was told that if I was in trouble I would know about it. I would never want to go to COs Mast.

It sounds like congratulations are almost in order! Good Luck!:thumb:

Okay, Luke - breathe deeply. You have less than 48 hours left before you get your package in hand. An early congratulations.

My command is terrible at keeping secrets! I have been congratulated a few dozen times and got a message on facebook from the Admissions team verifying that I am a part of the next class for NAPS.
