AROTC DoDMERB Waiver Process

I recently received a Four-Year Army ROTC Scholarship and I was medically disqualified by DoDMERB a few weeks ago. My status still states "Pending Waiver Submission/Review."

It stated in my DoDMERB medical disqualification letter that AROTC will initiate the waiver process, but is there any way for me to speed up the process a little? How long does it usually take for AROTC to request a waiver after you are deemed "medically disqualified"? Is there a specific person I should contact or should I just wait a little longer to see if AROTC requests a waiver?

You could contact the ROO at your Battalion and ask them if they could check on the status. Sometimes the Battalions can help keep things moving forward as well as checking to make sure everything is in order.

The other thing that might help is to get all your medical records regarding the condition in order in case they're needed. Might save a day or two on your end, but not having gone through the process I'm just guessing based on what I recall from similar threads.
 
I just received an email back from the ROO and he said that the waiver request must be done at my level. He said there is nothing he can do since I am not currently a cadet and I am not listed in his CCIMS.

He told me that I must do all paperwork requested in the DoDMERB disqualification letter, but I have already submitted all medical documents regarding my eczema condition to DoDMERB when a remedial was requested. Are there any additional medical records I should obtain or any other actions I should take in the meantime? Should I contact Cadet Command with my medical records and ask them to request a waiver?

Should I also contact DoDMERB to see what they suggest?

You might want to try contacting your POC at Cadet Command. Hopefully Clarkson will see this and lend some info.
 
Unless the process has changed, the waiver was automatically started for you in the ROTC process (academies had to request a waiver for you). You just need to send in the required paperwork and/or statements from your doctors and then wait, and wait, and wait. My daughter's waiver was started on April 7th and we heard that the waiver was granted the 2nd week of June.

That is interesting because my son is also going through the waiver process. He contacted Cadet Command and they are handling all of the paperwork on his behalf. At last update, his packet was submitted to the Cadet Command Surgeon for review. They told him that no additional paperwork / records was required and if needed in the future he would be contacted directly.
 
As usual Cadet Command kind of leaves you in the dark. You have a couple options:

1. Sit back and wait for Cadet Command to hopefully start the process. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't. Eventually you will be on campus, and at that time the ROO can jump start the process with a request for cadet action.

2. Contact your POC at Cadet Command and ask them to get it started ASAP. May or may not work depending on the processor and the work load. Either way you don't need to send anything in at this time. DODMERB should have everything you have submitted to this point. If the Cadet Command surgeon needs additional information he will ask for it.

Remember that there is only one Cadet Command surgeon.
 
clarksonarmy (or any other ROO's) can you tell us how that works? Does the Cadet Command surgeon personally review the all the waiver files or does he/she rely on Dr.'s in speciality areas to make recommendations and then follow their advice? Thanks
