When are potential USMAPS CC's for the class of 2014 supposed to hear of their decisions? I never received a nomination and my test scores weren't competitive enough for USMA (I am only a slight math risk my English is pretty good) GPA is at a 3.50. Also I am well qualified on the other aspects of the application. Does a denial from the academy mean a denial from prep as well? (I conveyed interest in the prep school)

Thanks

MAPS candidates are usually recommended by RC for talents WP needs or wants. (recruited athletes, prior service) However, the candidate needs to have study skills polished up. You do need a NOM and be academically DQ'd. When you reapply for 2018 you need a NOM.

I think the fact that you need a nom isn't "required" for MAPS. I was told that I would be considered for MAPS twice by my RC. How can someone receive a nom. if they need to have their study skills polished up in the first place? (hence being academically d'q)

Noms

There are several ways to receive a nom. President, Vise Prez, Sen, MOC, Sup, just to name a few. And yes you can receive a nom before you are considered 3Q'd. A nom is necessary to legally allow the SA to make an offer of appointment. If you are highly desirable to an SA (very completive) you can be given, in the past, an LOA which is a conditional offer of appointment. Conditional means you meet getting a nom. 3Q'd, and DoDMERB, plus maintaining everything. Grades, not getting injured, not getting into trouble.

Good Luck.
