I was wondering if I am I good candidate for the NROTC Scholar ship. I am currently a junior in high school soon to apply for the NROTC Scholarship. I am real serious about this scholarship and I am willing to do whatever it takes. Currently a 3.8 student involved in AP/honors, current member of College Bound and Jesus Club, Cadet Lieutenant of a 300 cadet regiment in a nationally ranked NJROTC. My position in the NJROTC unit was being a part of the Varsity Armed Exhibition Team, Armed Regulation team, Unarmed Regulation team, PT team for push ups and sprinter on the 100 meter dash. Attendant of Leadership Academy and also trying to attend Sail Academy this summer. As for sports I am currently a varsity tennis player and varsity basketball player for my school. I also have 100+ community service hours with mainly Relay For Life and church services. Many more things about me but this is just a gist. Please help with your thoughts upon my attributes and also help by any advice you have upon attaining the scholarship. Thank you.

I would say you stand a fair chance at a scholarship. A lot will depend on your SAT/ACT scores. You should plan on taking each once, and then take the one you're more comfortable with a couple times more... until you feel you've gotten the highest score you can. If you're applying for Navy Option a lot will depend on your choice of major. Navy is looking for 85% Tier I majors. If you're applying for Marine Option then your selection of major won't matter. I think this site explains the application process best: http://naval.dasa.ncsu.edu/sites/naval.dasa.ncsu.edu/files/Visitors/Scholarship application info.pdf

You should keep in mind no one here sits on the boards and our advice is worth what you pay for it.

+1 to kinnem :worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:

Your SAT/ACT is a big factor.

STEM major is the other factor for NROTC.

Your school choice is the final.

In the end you left out the biggies when it comes to chancing. SAT, major and school choices. Come back with those factors and people can give anecdotal advice.

HOWEVER as kinnem stated we don't sit on the boards.

Thanks for the responses! Greatly appreciated. If I am correct, Computer Engineering is tied with Tier I majors?

You will never know unless you apply! In addition to all you have done, there will be the application, letters of recommendation and an interview. Test scores and demonstrated leadership experience are important also.

Work hard on your application and make sure you have teachers, counsellors, and others proof-read and make suggestions.

Best of luck!
