My son applied for an Army ROTC scholarship. We are anxiously awaiting results of the March 11th board. When I go onto the AROTC scholarship site and look at the application status the medical has always said "not received". I read somewhere that it will always say that because you don't do the medical until after you've received a scholarship. Is this correct? I'm kinda freaking out now thinking maybe we missed something and the medical should have said "received" like everything else.

No worries, DS had the same "not received" on the medical and was awarded a scholarship on the previous board. ROTC will usually not have you do any medical exams until an offer has been made. If all else is received your packet is ready for the board. Best of luck.:thumb:

Thank you! Aside from them asking for a verified height and weight, I didn't think there were any other medical exams at this time. When I read somewhere that the medical received status will always say not received until a scholarship has been awarded, I decided not to worry about it....however, lately I haven't been able to stop thinking what if we missed something and his application wasn't reviewed. I hope we hear something soon...waiting is killing me!

scholarship - medical

Hello,

A couple of years ago DoDMERB quit doing the medicals before offers are made because of costs . Their way of cutting back. Which makes sense because too many people never complete their file or do not accept.

Therefore, you will not have a physical until your DS or DD is offered and you have accepted. This comes from CC, so I wouldn't worry. You are good to go.!!!

Best of luck... Waiting is a killer....

I don't know if it's happening this year, but last year my DS received paperwork in the mail to have the DODMERB physical done before he ever heard anything about a scholarship. And even then, his medical status on the portal never changed, so I definitely wouldn't worry about it.

We had the same in 2011; things don’t seem to of changed much. Eye sight test and medical completed the same day, some two weeks before an AROTC scholarship was awarded, DODMERB was never updated with the results of the medical exam on Cadet Commands page. I can say my son has found his AROTC experience to be a positive period in his life, he looks forward to MS111 year, and it was worth the White Knuckle ride of the application process (Obstacle course).
