Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for the 2nd Class Parents weekend this September. Is it highly recommended to go? What are the highlights?
Also, other than Plebe Parent Weekend and 2nd Class Parent weekend, is there any other time that parents can eat at Bancroft Hall?

Past experience has taught us that for any busy weekend at USNA it is best to book your accomodations as soon as possible. As to a recommendation to attending, we've only had PPW and I-Day. Both were well worth the time for my wife and I. To the best of my knowledge, the only times parents are allowed into the actual living spaces at Bancroft, including King Hall, is PPW and 2nd Class PW. Cheers.

GO!

It was great to see our 2/C interact with her peers as opposed to the exhausted plebe we saw 2 (very) short year before who only wanted to head out to our hotel and sleep. We got to attend classes (we sat in on Spanish and Quantum Mechanics; not sure which is the more foreign language  ) - had lunch in King Hall (the food was only cold cut sandwiches but who cared) - got to see her room and roomates and friends who poked their heads in - saw plebes hustling through the halls (Morn'n Mam...10 seconds later same plebe heading in the opposite direction: ""Morn'n Mam)

GO!

LOL. That, sir, is a reflection of excellent training! (I'm sure my wife would say it's the result of a proper southern upbringin').

Re King Hall, you can arrange to eat in King Hall most any time. Just have your mid get tickets/pay for you beforehand. We found it a great experience just to see how it all works--feeding 4,000 mids at one time is an impressive undertaking--plus we got to meet our mid's squad.

Thanks

Thank you, did not know we could join them for some fine USNA dining other than PPW and 2nd CPW. May have to do this next visit. Cheers.

Armed with a chit signed by the company officer and a meal ticket, parents can actually eat in King Hall whenever. I know one of my classmates brought his parents to noon meal during Army Week, which was...misguided.

On 2/C Parents' Weekend in general: for the love of God, please listen to what your kid wants to do and respect what's going on in their lives outside of you being there. I'm sure for 99% of you this isn't an issue, but for that one percent...

My year, PW was either the week before 6-Weeks or just another really stressful week. All of my classmates and I had a lot going on aside from trying to make sure our parents were having a good time. My parents' experience on the Yard ended up basically being "OK-this-class-is-cool-let's-run-by-my-room-quick-oh-God-I-have-to-go-study-BYE!" So just be mindful that in a lot of ways, that while your kid loves you and wants to see you, your presence is just another stressor.
