Okay, so, even though I still have hope of appointment to either the USNA or USAFA, I've kinda started to sweat after not hearing anything for so long. I'm currently a high school senior and am triple qualified at both academies with 4 nominations. I know what I want to do with my life, though: become a commissioned officer in the military (probably Air Force), and become either a pilot or member of the JAG Corps. I just now went to the official Air Force ROTC site and requested information.
My backup plan this whole time is to attend the University of Oklahoma. Its already a great option. I have two big scholarship offers that say I don't have to pay tuition and will give me $2,500 a semester. I know a lot of people join ROTC for financial reasons, but for me I was never worried about paying for college, and I just want to serve my country at my absolute best.
I guess what I was wondering is... is it too late to join OU AFROTC? I'm pretty sure the opportunity for a Type 1 scholarship has passed, but can I still join OU ROTC to eventually become a commissioned officer in the US Air Force? I know I should have applied back in December of my senior year, but I just thought I could go sign up for ROTC at any time. My research seems like this is not the case though.
Thanks for your help!
