AFROTC EA slots recall?

I am a 200 FTP cadet and am starting to get really worried about EA's. I heard that after the sequester they recalled the EA slots so they could make some changes. I think this is because of one of two reasons:

1. They gave out too many EAs the first time and had to recall them to cut more.

2. They cut too many in over-anticipation of the heavy budget cuts, and recalled them to fill more. (Seems unlikely)

I honestly do not think I am going to make it. Earlier when I met with my Det Commander, he said that he thinks I will, but that was before the budget cuts. He waived me getting an MIP ticket last September, but I feel like my chances are very low because of that. However, I look excellent on paper other than that unfortunate blemish.

There is nothing any of us can say to you other than good luck and try to think positive thoughts. The results will be available soon and in the meantime worrying won't accomplish anything.

Best wishes and Happy Easter! :thumb:

usaf9211,

There is another thread going on here and the fact is unless multiple cadets from multiple dets were told the wrong facts, the recall is not because they are adding more.

It is because they had selected 2100-2200 and because of the sequester, they are only going to send @1500.

As agagles has stated there is nothing any of us can say to assist you in calming the nerves. You just need to wait out the storm and make a path either way regarding the future.

Good luck.

OBTW here is the link that EA/SFT are discussing the cuts.

So if they are sending 1500, what do you think the percentage will be in my detachment of 35 AS200 cadets?

Nobody can or should take a guess. There may be dets with 100% and dets with 50%. 50% is CoC rec., but the other 50% is total and complete control of the cadet. PFT, SAT, cgpa.

That is the scoring system.

If you take the raw numbers and apply it across the board for 35 cadets. 95% from the original number were going to get a slot. That means 1 or 2 out of the 35 would not get selected even before the cut. Now if you take that number and the guesstimate of 30% more would be cut from the 2200, than you are looking at 22 that will go.

However again, this is not det by det., it is cadet by cadet. I can't stress enough 50% of the score is based on you. It is why I stress over and over again to HS srs. take that SAT/ACT over and over again. To take the PFT seriously. You are not competing just against the cadets in your det., but every cadet in the nation.

So if they are sending 1500, what do you think the percentage will be in my detachment of 35 AS200 cadets?

Assuming that all 35 of you were actually put in for EA's by your det, simple math would say: 1,500 EA's awarded / 2,200 cadets put up = ~32% cut rate. Your det has 35 AS200's going up X .32 = 11 cut (or 24 make it if you're a "cup half-full" kind of guy). These numbers could be complete garbage of course, so also keep that in mind.

Stop worrying, you can't control any aspect of the outcome at this point. Your cards are played, just keep your poker face and wait for Monday.

I actually just got an update from Colonel Dunn at the National Conclave in Atlanta. He says that the list is compiled from top to bottom but they just do not know when they will be able to release the results because they are waiting for the top to get their act together with the budget.

You're at NATCON?! How is it up there?

So it's all up to the big dogs when they release the results, huh?

.. they are waiting for the top to get their act together with the budget.
Good luck with THAT!
I think that the reports from other cadets and thier Detachments are likely correct. You will find out this week whether you've been selected.

I agree with agagles. There is too much to be done for them to keep it off much longer, even if you assume Max 1 will be cancelled and the 1st class is going to be Max 2, cadets will be finishing their school yr in about a month.

Orders have to be cut. Transportation has to be arranged. Bag drags must occur.

I would look at that comment as an O6 not releasing any info to a cadet at a function because they are not allowed to release any information at all. The reason why? For the fact that their fears came true. A cadet would post on a social network using their name that so and so told them XYZ.

I am not saying you meant any harm, but this is their fear that 1 cadet with any inside knowledge that AFROTCHQ has yet to release could create a firestorm.

Google AFROTC EA chances 2013, and the 1st thing that pops up is this site. They realize cadets are on this site, FB, baseops, etc. Just food for thought on why they are vague.

No, as I said before you didn't do anything wrong. I was illustrating why I agreed with agagles regarding the fact that they didn't say anything either way in the subject of SFT.

They knew that as an O6 you are not allowed to be in the loop. I am sure they know, or have been informed of the tentative release date, but that is not for public consumption. Thus, chit chat and non-direct answer is all they could give you as an ADAF officer.

Alright. It won't let me edit the post anyway so I guess it's stuck. Just wanted to make sure.
