DS portal states "you have been awarded an Army ROTC Scholarship" (very thankful).... I notice some of the post state "4 year" on the portal. We are anxiously awaiting the letter, but wondered if the terminology meant anything....

DS's portal for 2nd board said same thing. Did not know it was a three year until letter arrived. Portal changed on Friday, got letter on Monday.

For people awarded a 4 year, does it actually say on the portal that it is a 4 year? Mine says I was awarded a scholarship, but doesn't say 4 year. Would it be safe to assume then that I got a 3 year?

I can't speak for the 3rd board but for the 2nd board where my DS was awarded a scholaship, the portal just stated "you were awarded a scholaship to college xyz". It wasn't until the letter came that he found out it was a 4 yr. Incidently, saw many people talking about multiple options for different schools being offered, my DS got the 4 yr to his 1st choice school and there were no other options offered in the letter.

... if I remember correctly - the portal does not state the amount of years - it just states awardance to college XYZ. The letter is the part that reveals the amount of years.

Side note to all those who are worried about what the portal says. Do not be alarmed if the portal does not list your 1st choice. The portal simply lists a school (whether it's based on alphabetical order .. or some other conspiracy .. no one knows), the letter may list more than one school.

great feedback... we'll keep stalking the mailbox with our fingers crossed... happy easter everyone...

Additionally, DS's 3 year AROTC was to his first choice - no others schools were offered/listed.

See thats how I thought it worked, where you didn't find out until you got the letter... But with a couple people posting that theirs said 4 year on the portal, i was getting confused. Oh well, I'll just have to see once the letter gets here.

I'm going to guess, that after they found out on the portal - they called the ROOs, and that's how they found out if it was 3 or 4 years.

... although I was under the belief that ROOs don't release information until some point after letters are received by applicants ...

Congrats to your DS!!

I think the corrections needs to be made, to say 4-year degree scholarship. Meaning completion of a 4 year degree. That is the distinction that confuses alot of people.

yep... our ROO says that CC has told them not to release the information. We have to wait for the letter... well, maybe today.
