Are the Army ROTC height/weight standards the same as those required for Army Active Duty or are the requirements different for ROTC?

If joining Army ROTC in the fall and taking the APFT, do I have to meet the Army Active Duty height/weight standards or are there different height/weight standards specific to Army ROTC?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Exact same APFT and exact same HT/WT standards.

Active duty requirements are the same as ROTC requirements.

Have you heard anything back regarding your medical waiver?

Are you concerned you will not pass the height/weight, are you below or above the weight limit. If you do not meet the standards they can also do a Tape Test, if you have extra muscle weight you could be ok with the tape test.

My ROO told me that he cannot touch my medical paperwork until I am a cadet listed in his system and a student at college in the fall. Therefore, I recently contacted DoDMERB and was told to contact Cadet Command. All I need to do now is send Cadet Command a copy of my medical disqualification letter, and then the waiver process will hopefully get started.

According to the height/weight standards listed on http://www.apft-standards.com/femaleheightandweight.html, the maximum weight for my height is 155 pounds. I am currently around 160, but should be able to slim down five or more pounds over the spring and summer.

Best of luck with the waiver.

Just remember, the scholarship does not start until you pass the APFT, which includes the height/weight.

It is not only about weight. Height/weight is an approximation for body fat %. A second method is tape measuring 2 or 3 points in the body for circumference, and a formula for converting to body fat %. Many cadets who are shorter in stature but of a muscular build fail the height/weight test, but pass the tape test. Even the taping is an approximation of BF%. If I were a cadet failing the body fat % by both methods, I would get an exact body fat % from a water tank. That would be exact, not an approximation. Assuming the water tank result showed an acceptable body fat %, I would then give the results of such test to cadre. They might not accept it, but it is worth a try.

Does this mean that in order to activate my ROTC scholarship and join ROTC I have to pass the height/weight standards AND the tape test? Or do I have to pass one or the other? Thank you for the help!

Tape is used for those above max ht/wt standards.

Advice:
Don't try to be on the boarder, I have seen a lot of ROTCers get dropped their Sr yr and after graduation. Not a good life.

It's one or the other, not both.

I agree with jbsail, don't push the limits.
