I was not accepted to the class. I had to have direct admission, and my last advanced math course was in 2008. It hurts knowing that having another class under my belt last year could have put me in, but i'm trying not to let it get me down. MECEP is still an option, but they bumped up the rank to Sgt to apply so that's far away. I'm in limbo so to speak. Thank you all for all your advice and help. Semper Fi, and god bless.

V22CrewChief. Congratulations on getting as far as you have. Being an old Marine myself, I know you must surely have the steadfastness that all Marines have.

I encourage you to continue your quest to become an officer with the same discipline you have attained as an enlisted Marine.

The Corps needs excellent officers to lead our excellent enlisted folks. You know as well as I, mustang officers are held in particularly high esteem by all ranks; especially the enlisted ranks.

Keep plugging away. When you ultimately achieve your goal you will be a great example to those whom you lead.

Semper fi!

V22, sorry to hear that, Marine. Thank you for your continued service. My son continues to wait word and because of the delay in mail service to GTMO, I am thinking he will not hear until next week. Semper Fi. Use your disappointment to continue bettering yourself now and perhaps a year from now for another crack.

Yeah I would, except I was at the edge of the age limit. I would have gotten into NAPS no problem they said, but because of my age and lack of recent Math I wasn't accepted for the direct.

V22CrewChief - So sorry to hear that, waiting for my Marine to be rejected also. Don't give up Marine, what rank are you now? Did not know they cahnged rank to Sgt. for MECEP. Do I remember you said you had an associate degree? Can you switch to a 4 year college at night, would take longer but maybe OCS? Pulling for you are, you are one of The Few and The Proud. Best of luck to you -OOHRAH!

Sorry to hear your disappointing news. Keep up your search and maybe something will break loose for you. If you can get any college courses in the meantime do so - it might make the difference down the line. Thanks for your service keep the spirits up!

Crew Chief,

Was the letter postmarked 29 March? Just got confirmation that USNA Admissions sent correspondence to son as of that date. I also know his nominating Congressman and Senators have not heard anything which most likely his envelope will be thin and white vice big and fat.

Thanks.

It wasn't actually a letter. I was informed that I would find out by April 1st and after that passed I sent an email to admissions and they informed me of my status.

Oh and Mulan, i'm actually about 50 credits away from earning my history degree online from Columbia, I love everything about history so the courses don't seem like work to me. I'm only a Lance because of slow pickup and lockout in my MOS. Once I pick up Cpl later this year i'll just keep improving and try to get Sgt Meritoriously and apply to Mecep or finish up my degree and go ECP. I appreciate all of your support.

As Winston Churchill often said: KBO!

My son also inherited the love of History from my father & me, and he says the same thing - those classes never feel like work!

I'm so glad to see the optimism and dedication expressed in this last sentence! I'm sure that you are going to thrive wherever your path takes you. Thanks again to you and all who serve. I hope you'll remain optimistic - and "keep buggering on!"
