Anything he wants to do assuming he has good grades.
Is he asking how he would apply nuclear engineering in the Army? Or which Army branches would benefit the most from someone with those skills?
Yes - he wants to know how he would apply a nuclear engineering degree in the Army... In addition, which branch of the Army would he be funneled into...
The reason I am asking, is my DS has a NROTC scholarship at TAMU. He has information regarding the application of a nuclear engineering degree in the Navy. He needs information to weigh his options.

What you get your degree in has no bearing on what you will do in the Army, unless you choose a branch like your major. (ie, major in engineering and choose to branch engineers)

And even then it won't have much of anything to do with your branch until much later in your career.
If your DS want to use his nuclear engineering education post grad/commissioning, he should look seriously at Navy. I know a WP grad with a nuke degree spent 20+ yrs as a cav officer never used it. If you were to ask him today if he would choose that again as a major as an Army officer he would tell you no.
I have a friend at work who's son graduated with a Nuke Eng. degree from TAMU in 2012 went OCS Navy Nuke and being trained to operate reactors today.

The Branch assignment after graduation is almost independent of the Major at West Point. Cadets in a particular major do not go to any specific branch-although that major might be a factor in their branch selection.
My son is currently a Nuclear Engineering Major at West Point. He wants to be an Infantry Officer and later have the Army send him to Graduate School in that area. He may or may not use that degree directly as an Army Officer. Many WP graduates in all majors get graduate degrees and some of them come back to WP as instructors later in their careers. If they decide to get out of the Army, WP grads with graduate degrees are very much in demand in the civilian world.
In my view, if you want to be a life-long Nuclear Engineer, WP is not the best place. WP is developing Cadets to be officers and leaders in the Army - not full-time Nuclear Engineers.
