Does anyone know what the acceptance rate is of students who are denied an appointment but reapply after a year of college?

I am certain that USAFA/RRS would know the answer to that question but I don't know if they publish it.

I will say that in my class, just in my squadron, were several "former college students" as well as most that were straight out of high school.

I can't speak as Admissions, but I were them I would love to see the same name two years in a row. Nothing says dedication like refusing to take, "No" for an answer!

What I have noticed when I have read through every pamphlet every book and every PDF is that there is usually 1 cadet re-accepted each year. The mosti have read/heard about is 3 re-accepted in one year. I may be wrong but I'm am quite sure. And why are you asking, if I may ask?

Oh! I read that wrong! Oops my bad. Many students accepted are not coming straight from high school. There is that group of cadets that came from community colleges and universities all over. Again. Sorry for the misread!

Well last year they gave out 60 falcon foundation scholarships to prep schools and theres what 250 prep slots at USAFAPS? So that's automatically over three hundred re-applicants who are very likely to get in. I went to NWP and along with the 30 something falcon foundation scholars, there were another dozen or so "free agents" (non-scholarship kids) who also got an appointment on their second try. I'm sure there are a bunch more kids from colleges and universities around the country who also get appointments as re-applicants. Hope that helps!

FYI...

Folks...I went off to NWPS for a year...back in 1978-1979 it was almost a year...we called it "Hoiby's Hilton" up in Mound, MN. Now it's in sunny SoCal!

But...I am one of those folks that had to reapply...

It CAN be done!!
