Would anyone whom has been appointed to the usna like to share their sat scores?

Don't Analyze... Just Apply

650 Reading
710 Math

and I wasn't appointed.

Don't Analyze... Just Apply

600 math

570 c/r

I feel that I took the sat too early (Spring of Sophomore year) and should have retaken it.

Be advised that sat scores are only a small piece of the puzzle! Grades and rigor of our high school schedule are one of the first things they look at. (according to my admissions counselor)

SAT

Best SAT Stat to look at with any school is the MID 50th. Gives you a good idea of the SAT range of those accepted. Just one part of your application. Don't get caught up in it. Test and retest. They do superscore.

Class of 2016 for Navy
COLLEGE BOARD DATA
Middle 50th percentile*
Verbal 560-670 Math 600-700
* 50% of the class achieved SAT scores within the range
between the 25th and 75th percentile
(25% were above & 25% were below)

Please DO get caught up in it, while a very high sat score can't make up for a poor LOR or failing CFA-The math score is the single largest individual piece of the application puzzle.

800 reading
690 math

Not appointed either.. Reapplying. Just go all out for it. SATs are just a fraction of the weight.

620 reading
650 math
I got a 33 on my ACT math however, which is the equivalent to about a 750 on the SAT

780 Reading

I was appointed but by no means is an SAT score a guarantee. Lots of people with great SAT's and great EC's are not admitted. I'm still sitting on the NWL for West Point and I have varsity cross country, five years of debate (state/national level), and Arabic proficiency.

Let me rephrase. Don't get caught up worrying about everyone else. You have no control over them. Worry about yourself. Get your scores as high as possible. Take charge of what you can control. The mid 50 is an indication of what USNA or any other school will accept. Obviously, the more you sit to the right side of the scale, the better your chances. Same applies to CFA, GPA, Class Rank, etc. But in the end, it is a combination/mix of all the factors.

Math: 720

My ACT English score was a 35, which equates to an 800 SAT score.

Not so fast my friend

No it does not. 36 =800 SAT.:biglaugh:

Not so fast my friend. There are sites that show a 35 = 800 score. If you look at the CollegeBoard.org website it shows:

See Table 2:

http://research.collegeboard.org/sites/default/files/publications/2012/7/researchnote-2009-40-act-sat-concordance-tables.pdf

Either way a 35 on the ACT is a GREAT score!

perfect ACTscore=36

any less isn't:sleep:

Yes, it does. If you look at equivalency tables, it equals 800. On my NROTC application, it lists my highest reading SAT score OR SAT equivalent to be 800.
Originally, I didn't think a 35 would be considered equal to 800 either, but apparently it is.

My apologies  According to College Board and NROTC it equals an 800 SAT score... according to Princeton review it doesn't. It’s not worth arguing any further about.

I do agree with many of the other posts on here that while the SAT is important, it is not the only factor. You should strive to get it as high as you possibly can, and while it’s good to know if you fall into the middle 50th or higher, it is in no way a guarantee of an appointment! There are several people with high SAT scores that did not get an appointment. Like Craig said, don’t compare yourself to everyone else; It'll just drive you insane.
