Personally, I feel allowing women to be in Infantry units would jeopardize the safety of their fellow soldiers. The evidence is there, women are less physically strong than males. Infantry requires walking miles with large amounts of weight.

The only way they could pass physical standards is if they were lowered, again jeopardizing safety.

What do you guys think?

I'm saying unless you want to have only one woman per entire company, no! I honestly do not think many would be able to.

And if they did, then we have to face privacy issues, maternity leave, etc.

You may not think many women are able to pass the physical standards. And that's totally fine, we fight to give everyone their opinion. But what harm could there exist in giving women a chance to compete for the standards? Say your opinion is right: (and this is completely made up for use as an example) 1/5 women pass the standards and make it into combat. Why should those that pass be denied because there just are not a lot of them?

Privacy standards for women would be identical for men. I don't see the issue here?

Maternity leave occurs during pregnancy. Women do not get pregnant on complete accident, there is a fault. Since the military is already taking a tougher stance on sexual mis-conduct, again, this applies to men and women: you cannot be having sexual mis-conduct. While the consequences can be much longer lasting for a woman and more emotionally trying, the rules are the same: don't do that! By saying women can't join because they may commit sexual mis-conduct is also admitting that the reason women cannot serve on combat roles is because of the military's poor implementation of their own policies. If we implement our policies correctly, women will not start getting pregnant all of a sudden.

If a women is willing to serve in a combat career with a high majority of men and is qualified, let her! Women will be warned of what they will be dealing with and everyone will have to make a few changes. Isn't being in the military being able to adapt?

I'm liking this good spirited debate! We need more of this on Capitol Hill ;)

The Boy Scouts have "ADULT LEADERSHIP".

You have to realize; our agenda and many of those in congress are totally different. Let's just say, they care more about their careers than women in combat, gun control, national debt/deficit, illegal immigration, etc...
