Quick question,

The packet says that I need an adult polio booster within six months of admission, but after going to the doctor, he says it's completely unnecessary. I've already been "vaccinated" supposedly a long time ago with all the correct doses and such. I emailed the provided email on the vaccination part of the packet about what is required, but still haven't gotten a response. Is anyone else in the same situation?
Thanks!

i actually called the USAFA clinic for allergies and immunization... here's the number to confirm 719-333-5080, but just to be safe, I got a shot.

When our son was getting ready to report we got the exact same response from our doctor. She was just not familiar with the AF requirements and it didn't help that he was still only 17 at the time. We went in and talked to the doctor and convinced her that it was required in this instance. She reluctantly gave him the shot.

+1 to Stealth.

This is not an optional shot, it is a must have required shot. Whatever their medical opinion is, it doesn't matter, this is the AF's world.

They will look at the shot records, and count up the shots required in each section compared to the shots you have received. They will look at the dates to see if they are also current.

My daughter was up to date on her shots. Upon acceptance in 2010, we went to the doctor and she got three more required shots that were listed in her acceptance packet. She was able to make one last phone call to us the day of her in-processing. She was given four more shots! All the cadets were given more shots, whether you wanted them or not, on that first day. Like Pima said, it is the AF's world. My daugher is now a junior and she has been force to take many more shots during the time spent there. My son has been appointed to the class of 2017 and I am wondering if I should even take him to get shots. I am thinking they will just re-do them when he goes through in-processing.

What I did is go get ALL of the listed shots in two separate visits and then hand carry a copy of my record with me THE WHOLE IN-PROCESSING DAY so that when they took me to get shots I pulled out my record and showed that I had all of them. So I was one of the only basics that didn't have to get any new shots.

i thought the IPV and the PPD was the only thing "required". the others you should have had already. does anyone else know what other shots USAFA gave them because they were "missing" them?

That is exactly the right way to approach it. We gave the list to the doctor, she reviewed it thoroughly to determine time frames, etc., and we got them all done in 2 visits. Yes, there were some shots she questioned, but she had dealt enough with military families to know that there are things the military will just require. My daughter went with her full shot record and got no shots on I-Day.
